Freya was spending her childhood as a magician's apprentice to get into the prestigious Academy of magic alchemy and arts. Once there she's planning to learn floral and faunal magic to deal with the deforestation, the world is facing. The only problem is that the AMAA accepts only Women, so Roland has to cross-dress as Freya's shiled-maiden (a female bodyguard)Roland is actually a former street rat( a guildless thief), that was taken in by a Guardian (something of an elite corp of royal knights) and forced to attend any kind lessons a school had to give him. While being too young to join the guardians, he teaches the local kids the basic stuff like counting, reading, and writing. Few times he tried to sing his songs (he secretly would wish to be a bard) in the inn, but a mug to the head shattered his dream.
Sally and Lavinia, the couple in my vampire story, are both college grads who have studied enough physics to quote Richard Feynman to each other. I probably should decide what they each majored in.
In a Dance With Fury there are military academies that I based off of some freaky stories I heard from my friend who was forced into one. But none of my characters have been to them. The characters that are educated are educated in thier family's craft, what ever it may be.
Mine's quite simple. My main character is a Navigator. He did go to university (although they do not call it that way on his planet).
I guess if he were an Earthling his dream job would be astronaut.
