❄️ Propertea Of Frostea ❄️ Bitter SnoBerry ❄ (berrynumey) | 848 comments Recently I just sorted my shelves IRL and found small books I got as gifts, they're just 4 cm tall, but have quotes and ISBNs, there are other such gift books out there with facts and quotes and zodiac astrology info, or even with cat/dog pictures and captions with ISBNs, but no author usually. Are these to be NAB'd?

Renee If they have an ISBN, it means they have been registered and are considered to be books. You are most welcome to add them.

That is not always true.

Poet, the ones with substantial text are probably fine. The ones that sound like they are primarily non-text may not be, depending on what their content actually is. If no author is known, "Unknown" may be listed as the author.

David | 3 comments Hello,
I've read conflicting things about periodicals, like single issue comic books being on Goodreads.

In my mind, periodicals are not books. Single issues of a magazines are not books. Comic books are a form of magazine.

I use Goodreads a good deal and I'm drowned with entries for single issue comic books. It annoys me to no end. If it were up to me all periodicals including comic books would be deleted from Goodreads. I'm not talking about collected editions of comic books bound in TPB or HC.

What is Goodreads policy on periodicals exactly? Are these the items we author tag as NOT A BOOK ?

Susie (dragonsusie) | 2469 comments The lists of what is and what isn't classified as a book for the database is here. Comics, magazines, periodicals - they're all listed under "books".

That is an oversimplification. Whenever possible, for items that have not been published as individual ebooks (which changes things a bit), we do try to merge such items. That's what "on an individual and unencouraged basis" means. So individual comics are most often merged into their respective trade paperback, for example -- when that is possible.
