At some point I was expecting Sturmhond to turn on the Darkling, after how he treated the captain. Not this soon, but I'm happy about it and I'm really happy that he has Grisha on his side. Grisha, who are not fed by the lies of the Darkling.

I still think the Darkling is one of the best characters in this book.

And Genya shot at him, I think she'll regret this later. I hope, we get to see her again and actually I think the chances are pretty high for that. (hide spoiler)]

It feels like all I'm readign about is the group riding through villages and showing Alina and Nikolai off... But this could be on purpose. Alina is irritated by this, maybe Leigh Bardugo wanted to get the Reader more on her side. (hide spoiler)]

81 % - (view spoiler)[After two days of not reading at all I'm trying to power through this book tonight. Alina is... well, I guess she's just Alina, but she costs me a lot of nerve. It's still going slow, they are still at the palace. The only thing different from when they got to the palace is that Mal is angry with Alina because she couldn't tell him that she's always seeing the Darkling and lied about it all the time. Oh, and she was nearly kissing Nikolai, which feels really forced, a second before that she was still mopping about Mal.

Even though I'm a little pissed right now I still want to read all the Grishaverse-books in the next few weeks. (hide spoiler)]

The whole battle could have been a little longer with more tension through the whole book. I want to find out what happens next, now that Alina can't use her power. (hide spoiler)]

Nope not just you. I really think Alina is not a very well written character at all. Are you going to read all the Grishaverse? Six of Crow duluogy is so much better then these books.

Yes, I want to continue with Six of Crows after Ruin and Rising.

My guess is, that maybe both don't have their power for a while but they will get for a final battle, which Alina will miraculously wins. (hide spoiler)]

On the one hand, I hope Nikolai and Alina end up together. On the other end, he annoys the crap out of me.
I don’t really feel like she’ll end up with Mal though, I don’t know??
Zoya and Genya still need to join them, can’t wait to see how that turns out, although I HATE Zoya.

A burning village. I don't know why, but it feels like deja vu.
A little boy in a burning village. Could this refer to their hometown which they can't remember, and how they were orphaned?
Ruin. The dva stablen (i'm not sure this is right, but anyway), it was a ruin, right? of an arch?
Burning village. Is this like some phoenix kind of thing? That would explain the rising in the book 3 title, and the firebird thing. Maybe the firebird was reborn as Mal, and the saint, Ilya was it?, was reborn as Alina?
