Klara Hi there,

I'm a librarian requesting assistance from any fans of the Clique books!

I was recently assigned to help a girl find some books she might like. All I know about her is that she:

- is in 6th grade
- likes Clique and Chasing Vermeer*
- enjoys stories about present-day girls as main characters

The deadline to hand in my recommendations is 2 weeks from now. I've borrowed both books and plan on reading them this week, but I'm not familiar with non-YA (I'm not allowed to recommend YA) romances and mysteries. Any help I can get with this is appreciated!

Thanks in advance,
klara.

* Interesting mix of favorites, no? :)

Bre The clique books are great. I think that any girl would like them. These books are in present time so since thats what she likes I think that these books would be great.

Yeah, I think the Clique books would be really good for junior highers and late grade school.

YES!! PLL is a great book to recommend to girls.

AurorainBookland Secerets of my hollywood life series by Jen Calonita about a girl whos an actress but you can relate to her.

Book 1 Secrets of my hollywood life
book 2 On location
book 3 Family Affairs
book 4 Paparazzi princess
book 5 Broadway lights
book 6 There's no place like home

its in the teen section but I have read them all and Kaitlin is very moral and she would proably enjoy them if she liked the Clique these are a bit more realistic and relatable. If she likes actresses she will love these, in mnot into hollywood but I loved these books

The teashoppe girls by Schaefer, Laura and it's sequel the secret ingerent

The Kane Chronicles by Riordan, Rick

Book 1 the red pyramid
book 2 the throne of fire
book 3 The serpent's shadow

great for a 12 year old girl or boy. One of the main charecters is a girl

Princess for hire by Leavitt, Lindsey and its sequels the royal treatment book 3 a farewell to charms comes out next year

The keepers series by Koller, Jackie French Koller
book 1 A wizard named Nell there are 3 books in this series

The mystery series by Summy, Barrie

book 1 I so don't do mysteries
book 2 I so don't do spooky
book 3 I so don't do Makeup
book 4 I so don't do famous

The princess plot by Boie, Kirsten and its sequel the princess trap

P.s Longer letter later by Danziger, Paula and the sequel snail mail no more, two best friends stay in touch after one moves away

I would be careful with books like PLL and the last song those are deffinatly YA

Avani I was in exactly her position at one time :) Some books I highly enjoyed...
Secrets of My Hollywood Life series by Jen Calonita, about a young celebrity. They're appropriate, insightful, and enjoyable.
I'd Tell You I Love You, But Then I'd Have to Kill You - the first book in the Gallagher Girls series by Ally Carter

Definitely not Gossip Girl or The A-List, she is too young for that right now. However, the series I recommended I enjoyed a lot, and they will keep her occupied for a while- they're several books long each. Hope she enjoys!

AurorainBookland The princess Diaries by Meg cabot might be a bit too mature for a 12 year old

I'd tell you I love you but then id have to kill you by Ally Carter gets graphic, I couldn't finish the first book

Those books she might be able to read at 12 but I would say those are written for older girls. But it depends on what she can handle and what her parents are okay with her reading, that's why book reccomendations can be hard sometimes

The Clique is a really great book. I would also recommend the Gallagher Girls Series for her. Maybe even the Hunger Games or Maximum Ride.
