I don't like most films they make about a book, but I think this book would make a good film. I need to see who there going to cast though before I can make my mind up. I think the most reason the mess up with films is because the put the wrong people for the main characters.

This was wrote on maggies site quite a wile ago....i have been sitting on this news FOREVER (and I don't mean the novel FOREVER). So now I can stop being coy and start hyperventilating instead.
Shiver. The. Movie.
Unique Features picked up the film rights -- they are associated with Warner Brothers -- and this is the official word:
Unique Features has acquired screen rights to "Shiver," a bestselling supernatural romance novel by Maggie Stiefvater that is the first of a three-book series.
Pic will be produced by Unique Features partners Bob Shaye and Michael Lynne.
Book covers a bittersweet paranormal romance between a teen who becomes a wolf each winter and his girlfriend, who helps him find the secret to staying human. The first installment was published by Scholastic Press in August and has been on the bestseller lists for six weeks. The sequel novel, "Linger," will be published next August. Unique acquired all three books in the series.
Shaye and Lynne, who at New Line covered such fantasy and supernatural subject matter as "The Lord of the Rings" and "Blade," sparked to the author's voice, and said they couldn't ignore the grip that otherworldly stories have on young viewers.
"I'm not the biggest werewolf or vampire fan, but the author has a strong take on a young adult sensibility," Shaye said. "It's also a sexy love story that isn't too over the top."
Shaye and Lynne used their discretionary fund to acquire the book in a competitive bidding situation. They will bring it first to Warner Bros., where they have a first-look deal, and will set a writer shortly.
Unique adds "Shiver" to a slate of pic projects that include an adaptation of the Paul McCartney children's book "High in the Clouds," a Barry Levinson-directed adaptation of the musical "City of Angels" and the Broadway-bound musicals "Elf" and "Secondhand Lions."
I will be excited as soon as I start believing it's real......
Then I went on the IMDb site lastnight and it was there as one of the books there making into films :) there's no dates yet so it could be a wile yet :)
I thought the first book was good the second was ok but the third was bad. That's why I think it would be good as a film because they could make them better instead of worse! Lol
Lujain wrote: "BAD for me, the book was very boring so how would the movie be?"Ditto - this movie is going to be like two minutes long.
Veronica wrote: "Bad. I detested the books. But I might watch if the movie is well made."I agree, so boring!!
Movies based on books RARELY ever live up to their expectations so it's best to just leave it as an amazing book.
If they make it into a movie, i'll have to watch it too out of curiosity. How can i resist? But i'm dreading it, i do not want my interpretation of Shiver, the book, to change. It will crush me.

hmmm... i don't know, i loved the books but i have a feeling that some people might find them boring when they're made into a film so they might change things to liven it up :/ also, might turn into another Twilight. Hoping no one start the whole 'Team' thing urrghhh..
Im the sort of person that doesn't like to watch a movie about a book if its based on a series that isn't finished yet because the characters are always different to how I imagine them. I hate imagining real actors when I'm reading, it puts me off.
I would watch this movie after I finish the trilogy but I'm not exactly excited about it. Movies are never as good as the books.
Katie wrote: "hmmm... i don't know, i loved the books but i have a feeling that some people might find them boring when they're made into a film so they might change things to liven it up :/ also, might turn int..."I agree with you. They try to spark up the movie so that it looks appealing to the people who haven't read the series and know its amazing. Also Shiver was a slow book, they are probably gonna cut a lot of scenes that meant a lot to us readers. The are gonna speed up the slow establishing relationship between Sam and Grace in the movie. And they won't be able to convey the emotions that i felt throughout the book.
i dont understand why books are made into movies. where's creativity and originality when the films made are based on books?
Bad.The book was good but rarely does a movie based on a book peak my interest. The emotions in the book most likely won't be conveyed as well in the movie. I just can't see it coming out as a movie, honestly.
And books, to me, are like secrets, where not everyone knows about it, unless it's something everyone has read. Like Twilight - though I'm not a fan - I, and everybody and their mother, did not know about it until trailers for it were being played on TV. Money-wise, if the movie catches the attention of preteens who'll just swoon over Sam, good for them.
The books it's not boring just a lil slow.. But It's not ideal for a movie since it's very slow and it wouldn't have that thing that others movies do that just makes us stick to it till the end, it would just make people fall asleep.. And It would be a bit difficult to adapt de book to movie since as we read we get perspectives from both characters Grace and Sam about what's going on and on movie that would be confusing. As a book it's a good teen romance that made me want more and i've love it to read since I've felt like I was Grace.
Bad. Almost every book adaptation has been pretty bad up to now. They never capture the essence of the book, I find. When you read something, you get lost in another world and live through the characters, seeing them in a way only your mind can envision. Movies take away from that magic and they tend to leave out a lot of my favorite parts.

Yeah, i agree with you. I don't want this to become a movie and then EVERYONE is gonna be talking about it, obsessing over it. And when something becomes common, and when people obsess over something i like, i lose interest.
I like the book, personally, I know some other people have different views on it. I loved the Wolves of Mercy Falls books and the only complaint I have was the ending. No offense to maggie but the ending annoyed me deeply and she really needs to do a follow up or SOMETHING!
I think it'd be a good movie if they polish over a few things. One or two things would be hard to do considering it's a werewolf novel.
Usually when werewolf novels are turned into books the whole 'transformation' into a wolf is completely cheesy, cringy and flat out dumb.
But! The werewolf movies I'VE seen have been from quite a few years ago, so, hopefully now that's it 2013/14 they'll be able to convey a more realistic (as realistic as werewolves can get), tasteful transformation or use effects to edit the transformation out, so a tree or something covers it.

I really don't think they should make a movie i mean theirs a possibility it could be good... but i really only like the first book and i feel like there's not enough drama to make it unless they exaggerate and change the mood the book has.
it would be AMAZING making a film about this book, it is so good and i'm in love with it....i DEFINITELY vote for this book to make a movie...
I don't know...every time they make a movie for the books I get disappointed with it and also...I don't want someone to ruin the book for me.
i think this would make an okay movie, the author hasnt over prettified her characters to a point where they would be impossible to cast and the story line would be smooth and to the point..i think it would drag a little though =/
That is pretty cool! I really liked the book and NEED to read the other novels in the series. Can't wait for the movie! I wonder who they are casting as Grace...or Sam...
WHAT?!?!? IT'S BECOMING A MOVIE?!?!?
I love the book!!!! And the rest of the series, but the first is my favourite. The first book in ever series is always the best one.

Average and bad books can be made into good films but there is no way , at least I have never seen it, to make a good book into a better film. Maggie Stiefvater writes in such an elegant prose that no film could ever reflect the beauty of her books.
This would be SUCH a good movie but they have to do the whole series and they can't mess up like Twilight did midway.
So um.... yeah i hated this book and it should not be a movie. Sorry for those who liked it. Yeah werewolves or something that turn when it's cold? and then to fix it infect them with meningitis? Not really an amazing plot line. I've definitely read better.....
I actually liked the series, but I take all this with a grain. Just because a company options the rights doesn't mean a movie ever actually gets released.Good or bad, its the way the world. I'd be interested in how its done if it does get made. Guess we'll see.
KILL ME AND CALL ME BALONEY!!! NO THIS AWFUL!!! WHAT A WASTE OF A MOVIE THIS BOOK WAS TERRIBLE HOW GOOD CAN A MOVIE MAKE IT UGHHH!!
I very much doubt they are making a movie out of this. I haven't heard anything about it and remember last time Maggie gave us some major news on the series, it was an April fools joke.
Last I heard, they weren't making this into a film due to creative conflicts between the movie studio and the author. I guess the movie studio wanted to change a lot of things from the book.
Really? What's your source? Because I just read that Maggie Steifvater doesn't want her books to be made into a film, because everyone imagines the characters in a different way, and she doesn't want this to be destroyed...Nevertheless I would say good, but only if they cast good actors. But I feel like Shiver will be just another "Twilight Movie" once made into am movie :(
Really? I heard this like a million times since forever, and I also heard that it won't become a movie because it is too much like Twilight. I love both series and would love it to become a movie!!! :)
Ummmmm....this was a wonderful book and Im super exited about the movie!!! Hope they put good actors in it.
