What does that mean? A member can nominate one book that fits in the general guidelines of action/adventure in the subgenre of their choice. (yes that includes fantasy and science fiction so long as it's action/adventure-y)

Use the 'add book/author' function to add the book title or cover to the thread. I will not add books that have not been posted by either book title or cover links.

Books must be in print, meaning available to buy new in paper or ebook format.

Books previously selected as a past group read are not eligible.

Books must be the first in a series or otherwise standalone book (if part of a series, it must be suitable to be read without reading the other books).

A list of past group read books can be found at the link below, and other general group read information:

http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/6...

The poll will go up on October 1st.

Tim The Enchanter I will nominate Under Enemy Colors. It is historical fiction with action adventure elements albeit action adventure elements as they would have been during the French Revolution. There is some high seas adventure and mutinous sailors. It a great read.

Thanks, Tim. As Tim did, feel free to give a brief synopsis of the book.

Everyone has a talent. Some are just more legal than others. Cat Montgomery steals jewels for AB&T, the premier agency for thieves in Seattle. Career perks: good pay, great disguises, constant adrenaline rush. Drawbacks: the possibility of jail time…or worse. Now she’s taken on a lucrative side job—recovering a priceless Faberge egg for an alleged Romanov descendent.
Though Cat is working solo, there are plenty of interested players. Her FBI ex-boyfriend is nosing around, as is her former mentor-turned-nemesis. Then there’s the sexy art thief helping—or is he hindering?—her mission. If her luck holds out, this could be the case that allows Cat to retire with her conscience and her life intact. If not, it’ll be her last job for all the wrong reasons…

Rizwan Khalil One of my most favorite author is Dean Koontz, I don't think there was any Koontz-reads in the past (I can be wrong), so I'll nominate a classic Dean Koontz thriller that I always wanted to read, Lightning.

In the midst of a raging blizzard, lightning struck on the night Laura Shane was born. And a mysterious blond-haired stranger showed up just in time to save her from dying.

Years later, in the wake of another storm, Laura will be saved again. For someone is watching over her. But just as lightning illuminates, darkness always follows close behind.

Ctgt I'll nominate Man On Fire. I watched the movie several years ago but just recently realized it was based on a book.

Good for thinking of Koontz! The fastest moving book I ever read is Velocity by him. But good for Travis for nominating Altar of Eden. I'm torn.

Travis (travistousant) | 362 comments I don't want to bash Lightning but I will say I read thata couple weeks ago aand the first half of the book is like a script for a lifetime movie then the second half gets down to business. It was a pretty good book the first half was just a little slow is all. Just saying. I wouldn't tell anyone not to read it just telling the way it is.

Sharon Michael | 449 comments I was an early Koontz fan and some of his earlier books are on my 'keep and re-read often' shelves ... Lightning is one of those. One of the most interesting time-travel storylines I've ever read.

message 11: by Tad (new)

Tad (tottman) | 74 comments I'll nominate Created, the Destroyer by Warren Murphy and Richard Sapir. I stumbled across this book in a used bookstore a few weeks back. Looking it up just now, I noticed the kindle version is free on Amazon. A cop, sentenced to die on a trumped up charge has his death faked and is instead trained by a secret government organization to go after high level targets.

It reminded me of the Executioner series books I used to love, by Don Pendleton. It is also the source for the under-appreciated movie, Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins.

Travis (travistousant) | 362 comments Yep I saw Lightning was one of the top Koontz books one reason why I read it. Like I say I just thought the first half was a bit slow I did however like the concept behind their method of time travel and found it quire unique. In fact the hardest thing since I read the book has been not being able to discuss the time travel because I don't want to spoil it for others so it would be nice to be able to have a discussion on it

Lance Charnes (lcharnes) | 226 comments If indies can play, then I nominate our very own Seeley James' The Geneva Decision for a girls-kick-butt experience.

The Geneva Decision (Pia Sabel, #1) by Seeley James

Indy noms are welcome, if they are readily available and are nominated by someone other than the person who wrote the book.

I'd like to nominate Fast by Shane M. Brown. I've read two of his other books, Plaza and Melt, both of which I thoroughly enjoyed. I've been wanting to read Fast for a while now and expect it to be another fast-paced action thriller! Kindle version is only $2.99 as well.

I added your selection to the poll because you did provide a link, but it's easier to click on 'add book/author' right above the text box to add a book link, Magiccats, and it will show the actual book title. It should end up looking like this:

A Beautiful Heist

Please keep that in mind for next time.
