This book is not a prequel. I don't think that you NEED to read the first book at all actually. The way this book is written it doesn't drag out backstory BUT in reading the first book you will be more intimate with the characters. This story was a lot more action packed and not as much about the main characters love and relationship as directly as the first book is. I would say that the first book is a love story and the second book has a love story within it or that it's driven by love. Hope I'm making sense...lol

Yes, you're making perfect sense to me. Thank you!

Getting back to the earlier part of my statement, I really wanted to love the book because the plot and the characters and development where all on point. I cared and I was interested and I got to "see" all my boos (Medlov men) but I think its a pretty terrible thing when all those things can be on point but then the editing and occasional sprinkle of corny writing comes in and steals positive points away.
Have any of ya'll read the book? What did you think? What were your favorite parts? Worse? Were you able to overlook the editing issues? Wrap with me, I really want to talk about the book! Shoutout to Anino for the Lend, it was worth it and so appreciated.
