I'm starting to enjoy this more in part 2.

The assault on the power station is particularly interesting. We have the secret room(s) wired up to blow, the note about how clean the place was, and somehow David and Megan aren't spotted.

I don't really have any theory on what's up at the power plant, but it seems like maybe Megan is an Epic somehow?

I guess it could be David himself, but he passed that test. Then again that test could be junk. I'd think that Megan would have had to pass the same test. It seems like they were saved by an illusion though.

I also find it interesting that she is opposed to overthrowing Steelheart because she deems him to be less bad than many other Epics and doesn't want to hurt the delicate balance of Neocago.

I'm not sure what's up with the power plant either. I thought it might have been a testing facility where they are experimenting on Epics but that's all I got.

I agree that some kind of illusion definitely saved them in the elevator. My initial thought was that Megan was an Epic but I honestly have no idea. I'm never good at the whole speculation thing...

I had a feeling that there would be some people who thought that Steelheart wasn't doing such a bad job. I'm interested to see David's internal struggle with this and how his revenge pact is affected.

Hopefully the next section will have some answers and even more action. I'm particularly interested in what the Prof's history is and what he has to do with the whole Epic situation.

Adam Krogh (adamkrogh) Also, the tensors are definitely coming in useful. They are providing some pretty cool entrances and exits from difficult situations. I'm kind of reminded of the fabrials from The Way of Kings, except the tensors can only change things to dust (a little less useful than the fabrials!)...

Nighwielder seems pretty badass. Forming spears from darkness is a pretty cool way to kill someone.

I forgot to mention: I was annoyed about David's little rant about not being a nerd. He's CLEARLY a nerd.

I think when I was in middle school I was ashamed to be a nerd but by high school I had pretty much embraced it. It's hard to really remember anymore.

I was a little annoyed at how defensive he got, especially the bit about how nerds can't do anything "badass".

While I personally am not capable of being a badass, I've known more than a few nerds who I think would fit into that category.

Yeah, he needs to get some nerd pride. I was, however, willing to forgive him for the rant mainly because of his incredible metaphor disability.

Dara (cmdrdara) Megan must have some kind of Epic powers. Maybe something not powerful enough to make her an Epic to challenge the others (or to run with them) but she has an ability to hide her Epic powers to pass the test to join the Reckoners.

The metaphors are terrible. I can't take them.

The metaphors didn't bother me. I rolled my eyes/groaned a lot. Some of the later ones made me laugh though.

It's very juvenile humor, but then that's the target.

*shrugs*

Can't have that. lol.

Better?

Dara (cmdrdara) Another thing that really grates on me is the stupid names. Newcago, slontze, Prof. Prof makes me think of Ted Mosby and the super uncool, douchey way he says it,

Newcago and slontze are really annoying me. I would like to find out more on the different epic tiers. My first thought on David not being seen was that it was a function of the jacket but illusion epicness makes more sense.

Neither Newcago or slontze bothered me. *shrug*

Mpauli | 241 comments Okay, it's getting more interesting and my first crazy theories come rolling in.
Bad for me though, cause most of you already finished and can laugh behind my back now.^^

First theory: Megan is related to Steelheart. Maybe like a sister or something. Maybe she knows him from before and knows the man that he was, so she doesn't really want him killed.

Second theory: David has a power that is somehow related to the Epics he came in contact with.
I think he might be responsible for his father being able to wound SH, cause he was somehow able to mess up his power.
One of the last Epics he had contact with prior to the elevator was the illusion/invisible one.
Maybe he absorbed some of her power and was able to use it subconsciously to disguise himself in the power station.
