Discuss the book here!

Here is a question to start the discussion off:

Would you sacrifice your own dream for someone else's (like Bailey did for sister) - even if it meant you had to live a lie? Explain why/why not.

Feel free to extend the discussion beyond the question :)

Eugenia (Genie In A Book) (genie-inabook) | 88 comments To sacrifice your own dreams and ultimate ambition for the sake of someone is is an admirable act. However, living with a lie over your head would be so difficult to keep. For that reason, I don't think I would. In life sometimes it comes to the point where people need to live their own lives and shape their futures on their own - and if they do experience hardships or obstacles along the way (as everyone does), then having the courage to face these is what will make a person stronger.

@Genie - very true. Although self-sacrifice is indeed admirable, and a trait or action we all should endeavour to include in our own lives, there does come a point where we have to fight for our future, for our dreams and ambitions.

Because a life without these - goals, a reason to live, etc. - is a life not lived to its fullest. The person's personal growth would be at jeopardy. And, ultimately, they aren't allowing the other person to achieve their dreams on their own. Helping others achieve their dreams is good, but they need to succeed for themselves, to make the victory all the more sweeter.
