Introducing Yourself

That's cool. Sounds like it would be interesting to read about. Good luck!

Like Samurai Champloo I guess. Which Authurian influences are you going for in this interesting subject? I would guess the first place most would go for is one of the fate series.
Also would like to point out not only classic literature is being made into manga but some American and British shows are getting the manga treatment (and/or anime in the case of Supernatural) though I am not sure if said series are being made in Japan first and being translated here after.

And yes, I'm studying Fate/stay night. ^^
And yeah, I knew! I saw a Sherlock adaptation in manga a couple of months ago!

Greetings Michelle. :)
Great choices by the way. I can understand the draw to such series. :)

I'm in a music vibe so You Lie In April and Piano No Mori. They both have manga as well. Btw, I love Hunter x Hunter as well!

Tengen Toppa GURREN LAGANN! (I'm reaaally enthousiastic! XD)
Such a great list! I recommend Kill la Kill, Summer War and Redline if you haven't seen them. Kill la Kill was drawn by the same studio as Gurren Lagann.

(Okay, that's kinda hyperbole, but 19/20 people, when I tell them my faves, legitimately have no idea what they are. XD)
My personal favorites in anime at the moment are Haibane Renmei (anything with Yoshitoshi ABe as the character designer is, at least for me, iconic) and Cowboy Bebop, and my favorite manga are Made In Abyss, Satou Kashi no Dangan wa Uchinukenai, Bokurano, and Omoide Emanon. No worries if you don't know the manga I listed - most of them are actually quite obscure.
I'm also Danganronpa trash, but we don't talk about the anime.
Stacie wrote: "If you're up for cool art styles and trippy plots, anything by Satoshi Kon is legendary. Paprika, Perfect Blue, and Paranoia Agent are all superbly done."
Seconded. I absolutely agree.

Hi KC,
I'm glad to hear that you're familiar with Kon's work, I've also heard that he wrote a few manga. I think Opus was his ..."
Ooh he did?? Going to have to check it out!
Surprisingly, the MIA anime is very loyal to the manga. It doesn't adapt the complete story (the manga's still ongoing, after all), but it's a great example of an adaptation done well. (Fair warning: the manga gets even darker.)
As for Haibane Renmei...aye, nice! While it's not a series meant for everyone, it's probably one of the most personally-striking ones I've ever seen.

Gotta love Kamina, right?! That show hits me will all of the feels. :)
Loved Kill la Kill as well! I did a little b..."
Hahaha! I hated Kamina so much! Even now, he still infuriates me sometimes. But, I came to accept he deeply influenced (in a positive way) Simon and he would never, ever, have gone so far without him.
I really prefered Kittan. I still find it hard to believe, but I cried when he died. With Libera me from hell playing in the background... it was a perfect moment.
And Nia was my favourite, she was so cute!
Paprika was already on my list, but I never heard of the others. I'll check them out when I'll have a bit more time!
For those that loved Cowboy Bebop... What an anime! I hardly appreciated an opening as much. The music, the animation, the montage... I rarely rewatch, but I would anytime for this anime.

I love Haibane Renmei so much that I actually named my kitten after Reki! Just don't tell him I named him after a girl. lol

Omg, that's amazing. XD

I like a variety of anime and manga and always am looking for recommendations. I am currently reading the series The Devil is a Part-Timer and watching Gamers, Gundam W, and Star Blazers.

Hi there O'white one. :) I see by your books that you are not afraid of a little bit of Ecchi so I am going to toss out The Elder Sister-Like One, Vol. 1if you want a book about an ancient entity (Cthulhuian) learning how to be a big sister to a boy with a rough past. Of course there is Goblin Slayer, Vol. 1 which can be pretty gruesome with the violence but is still a good book (that also has a light novel that I hear is even more descriptive.) Finally I am going to suggest Nisekoi: False Love, Vol. 1 because the characters are amusing and the male protagonist Ichigo is blessed and cursed by having so many girls around him leading to a funny series. :)

Hello Doc,
Thank you for the recommendations! I will certainly look into them.

Hi Krystinn,
It is cool that you create your own stuff and have gotten a chance to explore some of the Goodread features. :)
I use Goodreads often enough so I can see what I still need to get for my series though sometimes I forget to add a book or two here and there. Your titles are bit on the older side but I know Ranma 1/2 has been released in Omnibus and the quality is better then the old flip version that you might have seen.

Hi Michael. Some people prefer one over the other but I think it is sweet you like and compare both anime and Manga. Have fun with season 1 and 2 of Black Butler because it diversifies a lot.

(I just finished vol.63 )"
Hi Marrisa. Interested in the primary series or are you into the miniseries too? Also are you excited about Eden Zero coming out soonish? :)

Missy, is that supposed to be plural books you are mistress of or just a single one? :)
Great choices of titles Kristen :)

haha a typo got me! It's supposed to be books

I am Solseit.
I am in love with manga - and I have a soft spot for One Piece and for My Hero Academia.
I also love blogging about stories (including manga although I am still trying to find my way around the format) and draw as much as possible.
I am also happy that I could finally spend time looking for groups dedicated to manga (and anime)!

Hi there Solseit. It is nice to see you and I can understand an affection for manga and certain anime as I tend to hoard and store it myself (I keep records of where each series is.) I wish you the best on your Blog as you discover new things about manga (like you should try Black Butler from Yen Press if you haven't.)

Hi Samm and welcome. How about trying Tomie. Nah just kidding I saw you are not unto Gory/horror manga and that one even freaked me out. :)
Being a collector of manga myself I recently picked up a few volumes of Ōoku: The Inner Chambers, Volume 1 which is being released by Viz Media. Having a wide interest in manga too I have found this story different with a disease wiping out a large portion of the males in Japan and causing women to take on the male roles in a patriarchal society. In the mean time they have to hide the truth from the rest of the world lest they are considered weak setting a stage for several strong female characters that may or may not outgrow the stereotypes they grew up with (avoiding most spoilers and still reading myself.) :)

As to the gory/horror manga there's a bit of a caveat with that, because there are some titles I like that fall under that horror/gore category. I like The Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service, Volume 1 and Corpse Party: Musume Vol. 1, I've also read Junji Ito's Dissolving Classroom; 溶解教室; Youkai Kyoushitsu though I can't say I "liked" that story, just left me with some interesting theological questions-I won't spoil it for you if you haven't read it yet.
So it depends on the story, but as a generality I do not go looking for books/manga in those genres.
Thanks for the recommendation ;)

Well I like them all! And yes I am!!! ;)

Hi Lindsey. :)
If you like Shonen Jump I am guessing you might have heard of a little thing called One Piece which has a lot to catch up with but also has interesting characters and ongoing pirate adventures as the crew continue seeking the greatest hoard of treasure in the world. Of course Viz (as one of many companies) puts out all sorts of great titles like Assassination Classroom, Nisekoi: False Love, and some classics like Ranma 1/2, Urusei Yatsura, and Inuyasha.

Hi, Lindsey! I'm sure you already know about them, since they're popular titles of Shonen Jump and Viz Media, but the manga series that I recommend are Fullmetal Alchemist, Yu Yu Hakusho and Shaman King!

The end of Shaman King is unfortunate due to the mangaka being forced to cut it short. Thankfully there is a proper end out there on the internet. I just wish they would print it state side in a book format.

Hi Cameron. Best of luck on your Japanese lessons and welcome. :)

Thank you! So far so good, I hope I can keep up the pace.

Right now I'm reading BNHA, and trying to catch up on SnK (which I've been woefully neglecting). I do a lot more watching than reading, I admit. But it doesn't make me love manga any less.
I'm a Librarian and some of my favorite moments are helping kids who want to start reading manga. Makes me smile and makes my heart happy!

I’ve been binge watching Naruto since the summer and I’m about to finish it up, and I’m on volume 5 of the Bleach manga. It’s been a fun thing to dive into since I’m in my twenties and had never picked up a comic or a manga before.
It’s good to be here!

Hi Kenzie. :)
Not sure if you knew this but Barnes & Noble is having a buy 2 et one free sale right now on Viz titles. Won't do you any good on Attack on Titan but My Hero Academia is most defiantly a Viz title as are many more interesting books. Being a librarian I am sure whatever sales you can find are good. :)
