I read it about 3-4 years ago.
SPOILERS BELOW
The girl is friends with the boy and is dating his brother. They receive lottery numbers sent from themselves in the future. They send in the lottery numbers and the brother goes to get the money. I think they end up buying a submarine and an apocalypse begins where there are these white bacteria. At the end, the boy and girl are in the submarine and they have to send the lottery numbers back in time. They decide not to send them.

I'm assuming this is YA? Do you remember how they were supposed to send the numbers back? And was the apocalypse something that was touched off because they won the lottery or was it just a bunch of terrorists--or whatever--doing what they do to try to destroy life for the rest of us.

I believe it is YA. The apocalypse was not caused by them. The lottery numbers were used to buy the submarine for future protection, so it was inevitable.

I'm trying to remember, but all I know is that they had this radio machine that could send the numbers back.

There was also a moment where they visit a scientist on an island to find out about the virus, if that helps.
