If I didn't enjoy the Hunger Games...

is it worth it to read catching fire and so on? The hunger games, was an okay read but I found very little interest in continuing. So, is it worth the trip to the library if I didn't enjoy the first? I'm looking for a non prejudiced answer, thank you!

In honestly, I definitely agree with the comments here. The series gradually declines as it goes on. I personally enjoyed THG, though I wouldn't say it's worth all the hype. The others became less and less interesting to me.
Therefore, one would presume that you, having not enjoyed the first one, would also not enjoy the second. Though, (just to add a spanner in the works) maybe the fact that you won't expect much (as many of us who enjoyed THG would) you might find them more enjoyable than the first book.

To be honest, I would go to the library to get them, just don't make a special trip. Maybe pick up another book or two while you're there!

If you didn't like Hunger Games then you shouldn't read the other books since they are worse than the first one. I thought the 1st book was amazing but the other two were just disappointments, specially Mockingjay.

If I did'nt enjoy THG, I'll read out other books from other authors. Just finished reading "Bred by the Vampire" by Emma Rose and it was so good. You can see her site and find her books at emmaroseromance.com.

If you're not interested n the characters future, then I guess I suggest you don't go on. I suggest, however, that you give THG another try sometimes. I liked it even better the second time I read it (though, otherwise from you, I really liked it after my first read)

Catching Fire was the best book in my opinion. It's a lot more intense. If you decide to read that one and still don't like it then I would stop. Most people didn't like Mockingjay, although I really enjoyed the whole series.

If you didn't like the first, you're probably not going to like the rest.

I agree with everyone else, the first book was the strongest. I thought that the first book was just okay. The second one was a level below that and I really wish I had never read the third.

I preferred the second and third books to the first actually the story gets pretty gritty as the books progress. Up to you though.

I would say at least give it a try and then if you can't get past the first 50-100 pages then just give it up. I liked it but I know how hard it is to get thew a book and then try and read the whole 2ed one when it sucks. so just try the first 50 -100 pages of ceaghting fire and then if you can't do it; then just give it up.

No, that's the best one

I wouldn't. If you weren't impressed with the first then you will feel the same about the sequels.

Mockingjay is the best of the 3. I thought Catching Fire was just a re-write of THG so I doubt if u would think much of it. I recommend Mockingjay, it made me very very happy....

No, do not go on. Catching Fire is similar and Mockingjay has many structural issues.

The only case in which I would say read the last two is if you are a fast reader so there is a low time commitment, and you are okay reading mediocre books.

Agreed, if you didn't like the first, don't bother with the rest. I did like Catching Fire marginally better than Hunger Games but Mockingjay goes down from there. I'm a big believer in going with your gut, if you find yourself unable to enjoy the foundation of a story/series it is unlikely you'll like the rest.

Personally, I thought Catching Fire was the best of the three and I loved Hunger Games. Mockingjay was okay, but extremely frustrating at times.

In my opinion THG was an amazing book. The whole series goes downhill from Catching Fire. Both the second and the third books were tedious and boring. Also, Katniss becomes very unlikeable later in the series.

I felt that Hunger Games is the strongest of the three and Mockingjay is the weakest. However, as a whole, they complement each other.

I agree with Nina. Personally, I enjoyed the plot of the Hunger Games and felt it was exceptionally written. However, I must say I did not identify with the characters and Katniss annoyed me a bit.... The second book is sort of a copy of the first and the third is depressing. In my opinion, the first one was the best. If it was just "okay," then you should look into some other books instead. Just name your favorite genre and I can give you a few recommendations.

I'd say, that if you didn't enjoy the first one don't bother with the last two. This goes for all book series - there's too many books out there, to bother with ones that doesn't interest you :-)

I'll be honest-the hunger games was a great book, but not my favorite. Keep reading and you'll see. After the Hunger Games, I didn't read Catching Fire until a year later. After that,I just had to read Mockingjay. Trust me, you'll love the next two. I think the last one is the best one.
