Pride and Prejudice
question
could you come up with a title half as awesome?
I can't! It's perfect! The original title was First Impressions

I think that somehow Pride and Prejudice sums up the main essence of the book: most people back then would end up probably on one or the other side of it (either proud or prejudicial) and the book focuses on the examples of Lizzie and Darcy. I think that their characters might be more passionate or fiery towards their beliefs, but all in all, it tells us what lies beyond them.
Yes, I think P&P is better than First Impressions. Maybe it's just bcuz it's so familiar, but it sounds perfect.
The title actually came from the book Cecilia by Fanny Burney, whose work had a huge influence on Jane Austen.
I thought the title First Impressions was absolutely perfect for the book, but would it be as popular now without the title of Pride and Prejudice? I don't know. Pride and Prejudice just has a great ring to it.
