I think had I been reading instead of listening I would have DNF'd it pretty early on because it was a very slow moving story. The narration really helped for me. Slower stories, especially historical, classics and non-fic I struggle to actually read but can get through the audios fairly easily with good narrators.

Finished The Book Thief! I did really enjoy this book, for many reasons.

1. I loved the characters so much. They all had their own personalities and all fit so well in the grand scheme of the story. I loved how the story was able to make you feel for every character.

2. The perspective of death. That was just...brilliant. Considering the time period and how much death there was during the time, I thought it was a really creative take on a perspective.

3. This book made me cry. Now, that might sound weird, but only books where I really feel connections with the characters can make me feel like that. I was honestly shocked.

There were times that I got bored, but once the story started to pick up, I absolutely adored it. 5/5 stars! :)

I wonder why they’re still together bc they don’t really seem to like each other 🤣 There are so many crazy characters in this lmao, love that. I’ll definitely like Rudy, they’re already OTP hehe. Omg so Erik was Hans' friend who died in the war - we’re slowly learning more and more, and that’s where he got the accordeon!! Not sure yet whether I like Max tbh.

I feel kind of bad for the mayor’s wife, Liesel was really mean to her :( already hate Viktor omg, I miss Arthur :( The fact that Ruby sticks up for Tommy in the hitler training is great; but I’m so heart broken over him already. Max’s sketches are perfect omg, so intense.

Why does Rudy have to behave so stupid dammit, he’s just asking for trouble now😭😭😭 my heart is truly breaking over Rudy fuck me😭😭😭😭😭 He’ll never get her kiss dammit. The race lmao, wanted Rudy to win it all 🤣 The bombs omg I was scared myself. Love that she was reading to the people in the basement & how she seems so mature now :’) Still heart broken over Rudy tho :(

I thought that was unique too, that death is the narrator. (view spoiler)[ I think that death has to be the narrator instead of Leisel because we get some insights on other deaths occurring across Germany during the war. I also love Rudy he is my favorite best friend. I am glad she taught those bullies a lesson. I also love Hans he is such a sweetheart.
