Desiree Granger (booksbydesiree) | 19 comments How do I claim my series if it's under another author with the same name as mine? They just joined last month, and I'm just now finding out about this website, and I can't even claim my books. When I click on my books, it takes me directly to their page, and you can see their books listed with mine. A female from spain who wrote her stuff in spanish while mine are in english. Joined 2015. So who do I go about contacting or how long does this process take? I would love to have my books that I've worked so hard on under my page so that I can connect with readers seeing as I have alot of reviews already. HELP! lol

Krazykiwi | 1767 comments Authors claim profiles, not books. Books get imported and go to the default profile, and that author simply claimed the author profile that had her books on it, so we move yours off it. If you had got there first, you would have claimed it yourself, and we'd have to move hers.

Moving books is simple, but you'll need to provide your author name (there are a lot of people named Desiree!) and a list of exactly which books are yours.

Arenda | 26452 comments Can you add a link to the author profile and say which titles are yours?
A librarian can separate your books from the other author's books.

All of the For the love of ATL books. The Carter Boys, and Hoodlums and Hooligans. The only books that are not mine is the one written and spanish. It's a comic book. My name doesn't have an accent on top. (although it should) I don't put an accent mark on my name.

I don't know how the website works whether they claim my books or profile. I'm just now discovering this page lol and all I saw were my books under a spanish chick. Thanks though for your input.

Abcdarian | 26579 comments How do we separate author profiles with only one name? These are both just called Desiree. One uses an accent (Desirée) but I'm pretty sure that doesn't help for moving the books.

From her profile>facebook>amazon links I found this Desiree's books http://www.amazon.com/Desiree/e/B00NR...

message 7: by Krazykiwi (new)

Krazykiwi | 1767 comments Oh. Single name profiles AFAIK can't be separated at all (pretty sure I saw Rivka say that before).

Going to have to wait for staff on this one, unless Desiree would like to add a surname.

I just added my last name. Desiree M. Granger if that helps.

Yes, Hoodlums and hooligans, carter boys and for the love of ATL

everything but the spanish one. Which I'm sure is a good read as well, but that belongs to desiree with the accent mark.

Claim via the "Is this you? Let us know" link right at the bottom, it'll take a couple of business days. You'll want to mention that you added your surname and initial in order to disambiguate.

Also be aware that automatically imported books will continue to be imported to the other Desiree profile (unless you start publishing with your full name), and you'll need to post here when that happens to have them moved.

YEP thats me. Do you think if I change my author name on Amazon that it will help? Add a last name? (not sure if I can do it though.) But thank you! That's my page.

Quick question! One last question. Sorry, I'm still very new to website. So used to just dealing with amazon. My profile link just to be able to log on is

https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/4...

and then my authors profile is https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...

When you say take a couple of days, do you mean for it to merge? Or when do I make a separate authors page to merge with it? (Again sorry if this is a silly question. I just have to know.) It's not an issue of it taking however long, I'm just trying to make sure I have access to it once it's up.

message 14: by Krazykiwi (new)

Krazykiwi | 1767 comments I guess so. Librarian's don't really deal with author accounts and things, we just fix the data. As far as I know you keep logging in the same way though.

Hi Desiree. Sorry for the delayed response. I've added you to the author program now. Unfortunately often our data is fed through from external sources, and if there is another author on our site with the same name, all books will fall under that page. You can just let us or a librarian know if this happens and we'll fix it for you.

I'm glad to see your books have been disambiguated - please let me know if this isn't correct.

LeAnne Pearson | 3 comments I'm having the same issue except I do use both my first and surname. Some people have the same names. Surely you should have to claim a book as your own instead of all books written by people of the same name being lumped onto one author profile.

Goodreads uses spaces in the author field to differentiate among authors with the same name. You are LeAnne**Pearson where * indicates a space. If a book automatically imports to the other profile, it only takes a moment to move it, which I have done in the other thread.

For future reference, we prefer not to revive very old threads as information changes over time. This one should be closed.
