Andra | 8 comments hallo!
Few days ago I added a new book. At first, I did search for the ISBN and didn't find it, so I decided that this book isn't here yet (it is released just recently). Shortly after the book was added with all the necessary info, I found out that the book already exists BUT without ISBN. Today I decided - ok, I delete the one that I added and add info to the first one. Well, I can't do it, can I?

The first one (that I would like to edit):
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

The duplicate (that I would like to delete):
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

The Help says I should "contact us", "contact us" says try first Librarians Group. So I do.

Please?

If only everyone was as attentive as you. However as you are a librarian you might want to occasionally check the manual, thought asking in the librarian group is the best (IMO)

Yes you can (You re a librarian). Move the ISBN from edition 2 to edition 1. Go back to edition 2 and delete it (see bottom of edit page).
As no one has shelved it you will not have problems deleting it.

However it is good you first asked as deleting editions that are shelved, especially when there are more editions combined (then the two duplicates) is more complicated and would need further instructions. And if shelved more then five times you will need a super-librarian.

To see how many times an edition is shelved all you need to do is go to the book page, click "rating details" just next to the rating and read the last line at the bottom of the pop-up

Andra | 8 comments Oh, thanks. I didn't see "delete this book." and then searched the Help - where it was said that it cannot be done. To be exact, it was google search that gave me goodreads Help topic, namely, http://www.goodreads.com/help/show/22...

It's OK now. No more duplicates.
I try to remember next time the manual.

Empress (the_empress) The help is targeting users and authors. The manual is for librarians.

But as I said not all deletions and duplicates are so straightforward .. Asking is always okay in the Librarian group.
