Two Serious Ladies is already on my docket for this summer. If I don't manage to hold off on reading it till August, Mrs. Palfrey at the Claremont and The Vet's Daughter are also options.
Thank you Jonathan for the invite. My first option would be du Maurier's Birds and other stories. Other options are Vet's daughter by B. Comyns or Pilgrimage by D. Richardson if I can get them till then. I would sure love a group read :)
After scrounging around for a bit, I've discovered I also have Summer Will Show and The Semi-Attached Couple and the Semi-Detached House (a two VMCs in one!) for possible readings.
Jonathan, Thank you so much for the kind and thoughtful invite! This group looks great and the titles in the VMC link really appeal to me.:)I'll try to read and review at least one in August.
Thanks for the invitation Jonathan. I will read a book I've been meaning to read for years Kate O' Brien's The Land of Spices
Thank you for the invite Jonathan. I have a few ideas but I always end up going for Angela Thirkell a much forgotten writer.
Thanks Jonathan for bringing the annual LT 'All Virago/All August' project to Goodreads. I've been rather neglectful as moderator to this group and I couldn't be more pleased to see a revitalization!
For those of you on LT, the VMC group page has an excellent group wiki that includes a history of covers, a VMC tracker (in google docs) with VMC publication number, original publication date, and the ability to use it to keep track of your own reading. Here's the link: http://www.librarything.com/wiki/inde...
So, here's to a summer of Viragos on Goodreads, and thank you again, Jonathan!

I'll read F. Tennyson Jesse's A Pin To See The Peepshow, selected mostly for the title but also because I wanted to read someone I had not read (admittedly most of the Virago list---something to be rectified!) AND neither had I known of plus she was related to a big bad poet and that's kind of interesting. Thank you for the invitation, Jonathan.
I've been meaning to read Rosamund Lehmann's The Weather in the Streets. August will be the perfect time!.

I agree the titles are very appealing.

Hi Aubrey, it is! I started a All Virago/All August discussion thread for comments, etc. Glad you're joining in!

I'm glad its still a thing because I just started The Weather in the Streets by Rosamund Lehmann and the lines are. like poetry and I want to read them Aloud!
Starting with Rosamond Lehman's first novel - Dusty Answer. Never read it - so seemed like a good excuse!
Thanks so much for the invite! The library's 50-cent book shelf led me to Molly Keane's The Rising Tide today: power struggles between a domineering Edwardian woman and her post-WWI daughter-in-law. Excited to keep reading!

The task is simple - read at least one VMC title in August, review it, and post a link in the group...
If you can set up some group reads, wonderful...if not - just summon up that pioneer spirit and go it alone.
Extra points for reading books with no reviews on GR already...
And, to reiterate, there is what looks like a fantastic VMC group on Librarything and, were I on that site, I would certainly be using it.
