Jaime | 4 comments one of the characters is called tregammon (not sure of spelling) as it sounds like trigger man in patois (pretty sure he is a jamaican chap)

there is a girl in the book, and some other people who i cannot remember. I think it is a sci fi book and pretty sure its adult

i read it about 10=15 years ago

Something by Nalo Hopkinson like Midnight Robber

Jamie, what do you remember about the plot?

What's the tone - funny, mystery, angsty, thriller, etc.?

Jaime, I added the genre to your header which will attract people who read those books.

Jaime | 4 comments Kris- I had a look and it doesn't seem to be one of Nalo Hopkinsons books. My memories are hazy on it. I think thriller would be fair, there was certainly something they were running from

Thank you Lobstergirl, hopefully we can find it because its really annoying not to remember

Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) Could the character name have been "Tregarth"?

If so that's ex-soldier Simon Tregarth who takes a Merlin-ish portal into Witch World (Estcarp) series by Andre Norton. He's not supposed to have magic (men aren't in Estcarp) but turns out he does. As series progresses, hooks up with witch Jaelithe and they have triplets (or at least three kids really close Three Against the Witch World).

Three Against the Witch World (Witch World Series 1 Estcarp Cycle, #3) by Andre Norton Witch World (Witch World Series 1 Estcarp Cycle, #1) by Andre Norton Web of the Witch World (Witch World Series 1 Estcarp Cycle, #2) by Andre Norton etc.

Definitely triplets--which again, was something that did not happen in Escarp. The first 2 books deal with Simon and Jaelithe. The next 3 with their kids who are now adults. After that, you get a lot of books, stand alone and series set on the Witch World. I believe that there are about 30 or so books total in the series.

Until Kris meantioned the Jamaican part, I'd thought about the Witch World books too. But Simon is actually from Cornish descent.

Estcarp the series, not Estcarp the place. I know they weren't born in Estcarp (and not until after Simon and Jaelithe left Estcarp ) even though they were raised in pre-Turning Estcarp. And Estcarp series more than once turns back to these same characters despite all the books and spinoff series. (I didn't remember if triplets or just close-in-age siblings because storyline skipped birth straight to when they were adults and it's been a long time since I re-re-re-re-read.). If curious, see literary trust info at http://www.andre-norton-books.com/ind... and http://www.andre-norton.org/

What's the plot of this sci fi novel?

Time period and location?

message 11: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 17 comments Kind of off the wall suggestion....is it Hex House by Betty k Levine?
The brother in it is called Agamemnon, and it has a girl.

message 12: by Jaime (new)

Jaime | 4 comments Hello, no it was definately Triggerman. All I can remember is that they are trying to prevent a large, terrible event happening and the girl is key.
