Tim | 8539 comments ***YAY*** !!!! :D

v4,0 of the Kindle app for iPad and iPhone, released today to coincide with the launch of iOS 7 has finally added collections.

Been playing around with it (it pulled down the collections I'd set up on my old KK and not seen for many moons) & everything is v. spiffy!

Expect the servers to be busy for a while though, what with the new OS update...

Elle (louiselesley) | 6579 comments im living in hope it also brought back the books disappearing from the cloud once downloaded?

(although, collections A+!)

Tim | 8539 comments I've been using it for a couple of months, and it still freaks me out that the clock icon is showing the right time!

But the simple swipe up and tap for setting/clearing Airplane mode is a real boon in the cinema (as is the flashlight button on the iPhone!)

Sadly not, and arguably they've gone a step worse, bringing it into line with the Android version (a little tick shows it's downloaded, 'nothing' shows it's in the cloud. Very unintuitive IMHO) Time for another complaint methinks...

Andy Elliott | 1446 comments Time will tell I'm sure, but I'm not overly impressed so far. The colours are a bit challenging to the eye, and both spotlight search and the unsettling parallax effect when you tilt the iPhone/iPad causes the most unpleasant judder. I thought this was just on my 4S, but it happens on Mrs E's 5 as well. The most annoying change is that the multi-touch gestures on the iPad seem to have a mind of their own now, whereas yesterday they worked (as Apple would put it) beautifully.

The new kindle app is a big improvement though, just to stay on topic!

Secretly wish I knew what you're all talking about but know I don't have the hardware to need to know!

Elle (louiselesley) | 6579 comments I am plugging it into itunes and hitting the update button but says nothing to update. Surely that'd be the same thing

Tim | 8539 comments I think iTunes only checks against the server once a week. You might be able to force it though preferences - I'm not near my computer to check.

Jonathan Hill | 1599 comments I'm finding iOS 7 a mixed bag at the moment. I'm finding the keyboard hard work as there's a slight time lag. So when I try to type a question or exclamation mark using the shift key, I now usually get just the full stop or comma. It's a nuisance!

Michelle Scott (michellescottfiction) I was thrilled to see that this feature was added! I've been spending hours re-assigning all of my books to their proper collection. I'm kind of anal about this, and with 700+ books on my iPad, it's taking quite a while...

Yeah, me too.

Not sure I like all the white screens, too. Hard on my eyes even with the brightness turned way down. :(

Andy Elliott | 1446 comments I like the fact I can use my wife's iPhone to make phone calls without having to unlock it. Every new iOS iteration seems to offer up a new way of destroying any security you may have in place, and this one's the easiest thus far. Maybe it's to encourage folks to upgrade to the fingerprint scanner equipped iPhone 5S? At least that will never be cracked....d'oh!

Tim | 8539 comments You mean you've never stolen a phone and then chopped off the owner's finger so you can use it??? *Shocked*!!!

;)

I gave up mugging people for their moves in the year 3310. That's the only handset anyone could ever need, both for making calls and texting as well as stoving folks' brainses in.
