I'm also a member of another online club: We ♥ YA Books! Any who I participate in this great program over there that I would love to incorporate here: The Buddy Read Program!

I know there are many suggestions that get thrown out there that we don't always select as the monthly read. Yet you still want to read it, right? And you would love to have at least one other person to chat about it with, right?

Well here's your chance to solicit a reading buddy. In this thread, you can post a book you are planning on reading and see if anyone is interested in reading along with you.

All you need is one person, then in this same folder, create a post for your buddy read discussion. Please title your post with the book name AND author.

Happy "Buddy" Reading!

I'll kick this off! Anyone interested in reading Alice in Zombieland by Gena Showalter or Splintered by A.G. Howard with me:
Splintered Alice in Zombieland

Please let me know if you're interested; and once you've got your copy we can get started.

message 3: by Tiffany (new)

Tiffany | 60 comments I would definitely be interested in doing a buddy read. Right now I'm a little behind in my reason but I'm hoping to catch up over the next couple of weeks and wouldn't mind lining something up with someone.

Danielle (dnareads) | 31 comments I have been wanting to read Alice in Zombieland (The White Rabbit Chronicles, #1) by Gena Showalter

I hope one of these make the monthly read, but if not there's always "buddy read"!

I really want to read the Program!

I'd read any of the others too but The Program was already on my To-Read list :)

:) I put The Promise on hold from the library. I'll let you know when I get it!

message 11: by Tiffany (new)

Tiffany | 60 comments I might join you all. I remember talking about this book over the summer.

message 12: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Corrigan (elizabethrcorrigan) | 135 comments I hadn't heard of The Program or the Unquiet before, but they both look like things I'd like to read

I got the program from the library. Let me know when you all want to start!!

I'm ready when you are. I've just started a discussion board with a pace of 30 pages a day. Let's comment there.

message 15: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Corrigan (elizabethrcorrigan) | 135 comments Anybody reading The Fiery Heart (Bloodlines book 4) by Richelle Meade right when it comes out on Tuesday?

message 16: by Kat (new)

Kat (booksenvogue) | 251 comments Mod
Hey Elizabeth I still haven't read the first book. I have books 1 & 2 in that series, but haven't gotten around to reading it yet. I would have to catch up first.

message 17: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Corrigan (elizabethrcorrigan) | 135 comments Book 1 is really slow, but the others are good. I think I like the series better than Vampire Academy, but that could be because I was always on Team Adrian.

message 18: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Corrigan (elizabethrcorrigan) | 135 comments Some books I'd be interested in buddy reading...

message 19: by Kat (new)

Kat (booksenvogue) | 251 comments Mod
Ohhh Unspoken! I've been meaning to buy that one. Anyone else? Hey Elizabeth do you want to wait on more ppl or do you have a start date?

message 20: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Corrigan (elizabethrcorrigan) | 135 comments I am flexible. I can start immediately, or we can wait til after the holidays if people are interested.

message 21: by Kat (new)

Kat (booksenvogue) | 251 comments Mod
That sounds great. I propose Saturday.

message 22: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Corrigan (elizabethrcorrigan) | 135 comments Can we make it Sunday? I have a guest in town til Sunday afternoon.

message 23: by Elizabeth (last edited Dec 12, 2013 04:00PM) (new)

Elizabeth Corrigan (elizabethrcorrigan) | 135 comments There are some other books I want to see if anyone wants to buddy/monthly read, so I thought I'd list them here as a way of keeping record and seeing if anyone is interested.

As I write, it occurs to me that this list is getting unreasonably long, and I still want to read all the old ones too! Maybe I should start going to the library again...

These are roughly in order of how much I want to read them.

Elizabeth Corrigan (elizabethrcorrigan) | 135 comments Any interest in doing a buddy read during the first half of January?

message 25: by Virginia (new)

Virginia | 33 comments Mod
I'm down, Elizabeth. I start class at the end of the month so the first half might be the last time I get to read for fun for a while.

message 26: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Corrigan (elizabethrcorrigan) | 135 comments Cool. I have listed my long list of books I want to read in the last few posts, or I'm open to stuff you want to read.

message 27: by Virginia (new)

Virginia | 33 comments Mod
Cinder or the Chaos of Stars

message 28: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Corrigan (elizabethrcorrigan) | 135 comments Ooh, Chaos of Stars first. It's pretty short, so we could possibly have time to do Cinder afterwards. :-D You can pick start date and pace.

Virginia | 33 comments Mod
Ok, so looking at it...including the prologue it's 20 chapters. We could split that into 4 days starting Sunday? I could commit to that.

message 30: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Corrigan (elizabethrcorrigan) | 135 comments Awesome, works for me!

message 31: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Corrigan (elizabethrcorrigan) | 135 comments Lalala. Some more books have come out since last I posted, so I figured I'd list a few more people might want to buddy read. I still want to read pretty much everything on my last two lists as well. And I'm up for at least a good portion of things that others want to buddy read. :-)

People were saying that they wanted to read more contemporary, so I'm going to try to find some contemporaries I'm interested in and do another post. (What? I like book browsing!)

I plan to start this book on Tuesday when it comes out, if anyone is interested

Ohter than that, in no particular order:

I've been wanting to read Uninvited for a while now. I'll totally do a buddy read with you for that! Just give me a week or two before we start as things are a little hectic at school this week. :)

message 33: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Corrigan (elizabethrcorrigan) | 135 comments No problem. I will be prepared any time. And now we can build up excitement to get buy in. Or something. Cuz of course everyone wants to read it!!

message 34: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Corrigan (elizabethrcorrigan) | 135 comments Okay, some contemporary picks:

Okay, this one's historical, but no vampires...

message 35: by Ellon (new)

Ellon (eruschell) | 271 comments Mod
I'm totally in for Solving for Ex! (I haven't looked at the synopsis of the other books yet so I might be down for another one of them too but I've had Solving for Ex on my to-read list for a while.

message 36: by Kat (new)

Kat (booksenvogue) | 251 comments Mod
I would love to read:

Cruel Beauty
Alternity
The Naturals
The Beautiful and the Cursed
Across a Star-Swept Sea

message 37: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Corrigan (elizabethrcorrigan) | 135 comments I don't think Solving for Ex is out til Feb 11, but it's Mansfield Park!!

message 38: by Ellon (new)

Ellon (eruschell) | 271 comments Mod
Yea I saw that! I'm a big Austen fan. In college I went on a study abroad trip to England to follow the places where Austen lived and visited. :)

message 39: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Corrigan (elizabethrcorrigan) | 135 comments I know you're busy with your show, Katrina, but whenever you want to read one of those, just say so! (I might read Cruel Beauty before then, though. The others, probably not.)

message 40: by Kat (new)

Kat (booksenvogue) | 251 comments Mod
Okay Elizabeth! I will be able to read Cruel Beauty after the show on the 6th, so let's plan for 8 February to start that buddy read!

message 41: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Corrigan (elizabethrcorrigan) | 135 comments Okay. I can wait that long. :-)

message 42: by Tiffany (new)

Tiffany | 60 comments I like the title, "The Unseemly Education of Anne Merchant." I'm going to have to read that one. Also Uninvited. I'll see if I can join in on Cruel Beauty, too.

message 43: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Corrigan (elizabethrcorrigan) | 135 comments Tiffany, want to start reading Anne Merchant RIGHT AWAY? Like, Feb 1 or so? Or earlier if you want? And try to finish by Cruel Beauty on the 8th?

message 44: by Tiffany (last edited Jan 29, 2014 12:32PM) (new)

Tiffany | 60 comments I actually requested it from the library this morning and its already shipped. I can let you know as soon as it comes in and we can start by the next day.

message 45: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Corrigan (elizabethrcorrigan) | 135 comments Huzzah!

message 46: by Tiffany (new)

Tiffany | 60 comments The book is at the libary. I will pick it up after work today. So let me know when you want to start.

message 47: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Corrigan (elizabethrcorrigan) | 135 comments Hurrah! We can start tonight, if you want! There are 26 chapters. Want to read 7/day for the first 2 days and 6/day after that? Or we can go slower or faster, as you choose.

I'm starting a thread!

message 48: by Tiffany (new)

Tiffany | 60 comments Does this book really only have 272 pages?! That speed definitely seems doable. Once I get it tonight I can let you know if we should faster/slower.

message 49: by Ellon (new)

Ellon (eruschell) | 271 comments Mod
So for the Uninvited read, do you want to start on the 8th? I should be caught up with school work by then and your current buddy read will be over. I'd be down for a pace of about 30-45 pages a day. Let me know :)

message 50: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Corrigan (elizabethrcorrigan) | 135 comments I think Katrina and I were planning to start Cruel Beauty on the 8th?
