Any Luck with KDP Select?

I am considering joining KDP (kindle direct publishing) Select and Kindle Owners' Lending Library. The thought here would be to get the book into as many reader's hands as possible to spark word-of-mouth.
Has anyone had any luck with KDP Select?

I am using KDP select and have had about 25 borrows for this month. I have yet to use any free days, but have looked through the forums and seen that there is a lot of caution about using them. After looking through other books that were listed for free, I noticed that most of the negative reviews were from people saying they were glad they'd downloaded the book for free.

I've held off so far and don't plan to use the freebies unless I have to. The lending is nice though the pay around $2 for each borrow.

Thanks Bethany! I just signed up for select. I agree about the free days and will prob do a sale sometime in october. Thanks for your tip.
