Character Guidelines

Hey everybody,

First off want to say that I and my fellow mods are happy that the group is hopping again. Even our character threads where people can discuss which characters they like and dislike. However just wanted to remind you guys of a few things.

1. Post like you want to be treated and if you have nothing respectful to say, definitely do not share it.

2. Book discussions or questions need to go in their proper threads/folders please. I don't mind some off topic conversations at times in threads. But when we get too heavy into discussing a book or idea in a thread that it is not meant for. That can totally clutter up the thread and detract away from someone wanting to post about a character in general. In particularly when it is usually a character that is not always loved by all.

3. We are steadily re-vamping threads and folders around the group. In particular our characters folder and threads are going to have a wee bit of a new format with some questions to get us chatting more about the characters. So feel free to answer those questions and post something new you find along the way.

4. Most importantly when talking about these characters is this. Which has been asked several times over. And this is from SK's own mouth:

"I don’t like ##### why did you write him/her that way? #### deserved better!" From Fan

"I’m very sorry that character didn’t appeal to you, but I obviously thought they were pretty good and perfect for the person I matched them to or I wouldn’t have written them. As in real life, we don’t always like the spouse of our friends or children, and yet that person is perfect in every way for the person they’re married to. I love how different people can find happiness with someone who is an opposite to them. That is a dynamic I explore in my books and will continue to do so. I think some of the problems come from fans who have a certain vision in their mind of how they want a character to be or who they should end up with, but as their creator I have an inside track on what will make them the happiest and I listen to my characters. Sorry if you disagree with the character’s choice. Also, there are a lot of fans out there and you guys have radically different and opposing opinions on everything and everyone. While some of you may not like a character for one reason or another, others love them for the same reasons you may not like them. I try my best, but unfortunately I can’t please every single person every single time. For that reason, I listen first and foremost to my characters who know themselves better than even I do." So please keep this^ in mind when discussing the characters.

5. Overall remember to have fun in the threads. And try and keep in mind what the main point of the thread is all about.
