Yeah, it was a confusing for me too, I couldn't tell how long between them had past and how old she was now and then, but it will clear up towards the end of part 1 so hang in there.

I love her attitude too! She has nerves of steel let me tell you!

And it's ok if you're slow we'll be still be here. It seems like it's a fast read though, to me it does anyway.

Gis, there are flashbacks and flash forwards, so you just have to pay attention to when she's doing that, but I also agree that can be confusing.

Kathy is right so just hang in there and it'll all come together.

I finished Part I and am stopping there for now. I'm supposed to read 5 chapters of Dark Triumph, which is only 51 NOOK pages so I might continue 5th Wave tonight after babysitting. We'll see.

And this Vosch guy is totally brainwashing him, right? He asks Ben if he wants to die and says he not going to let him. Ben says 'I'm going to live then' and Vosch says 'No you're not. You're going to die". WTH???

Vosch also said that Ben was human clay and he was Michelangelo, so he is conditioning him, right?

I'm scared of what they have planned for the kids the braught in on the buses. Maybe Ben will see Sams and figure out that he is Cassie's brother and he can protect him? Oh, I hope so! (hide spoiler)]

Haha, you expressed my surprise at who the new POV was better than I could have! LOL That was also a shock to me.

The Silencer (view spoiler)[ Vosch is creepy! He is scary to the max. I would say that Vosch is creating a masterpiece in Ben, meaning that he will make him, mold him, into anything and everything he wants him to be. I'd say that he is definitely "conditioning" him but for what? I mean he's already a killer, right? But why couldn't he go through with killing Cassie? He must have a heart left, or I think it said that either way he knew she'd die if he waited and shot her again or if it took her time. She's a goner either way, so maybe he just let her die a slow death because he did have a history with her. I don't know. (hide spoiler)]

I was wondering if Evan was the Silncer, he said he was Awakened at 14 years old and Evan is healthy and his grooming habits are akin in character to a person in the military or being a soldier. All the people we have seen so far have been either sick or hungry unless they have been a soldier.

You're right about that Vosch guy, he is really creepy and Ben is in a vulnerable place right now and is primed for his manipulations and I'm worried that he is going to be turned against Cassie. I'm also thinking this is going to be another triangle! ugh! I just seem to get away from them! lol!!! (hide spoiler)]

I don't think you misread, (view spoiler)[ I remember it said when Vosch shot him she made a noise and then that is when he sent 2 guys after her. She hid in the ash pit and they said 'the eye would get her', that was when she saw them leaving and setting up the bomb and she just didn't have time to grieve. I think she did later though, because she said at one point she let go all of what she was holding in. I don't remember where though. lol! :D (hide spoiler)]

And Dr. Pam wanted to show him an alien? How can they think that is good for a 5 year old to see something like that?!?! Unless that is their way of 'conditioning' the little kids too? I don't know who are the aliens and who are not! Who are the bad guys? Who are the good guys? Are there any good guys other than Cassie and Evan? This is crazy!! (hide spoiler)]

Vosch (view spoiler)[ He told Ben about taking all the kids under the age of 15 years old...all except Crisco...and he said that they it was his decision to terminate all of the people that were left. There are two more things I don't quite understand what he said.

First thing was the hadn't detected any 'Teds', but were sure 'whatever was gong on didn't involve children. What does that mean? What was going on? They were waiting to be recused, right? Unless Hutchfield was dirty? But it still doesn't explain what they thought was going on, unless Vosch is just saying this to Ben for...what? I have no clue!

Second thing was they couldn't know who was the enemy and who wasn't. But they had those silver disk things with the red and green lights. They check Ben's camp so why not check Cassie's...not that I trust their little scanner device, I just don't understand the reasoning behind telling him one thing and doing another. Kill Cassie's camp, but save part of Ben's?

It's all still part of the brainwashing and conditioning, right? Especially when Vosch has tears in his eyes one second and then the next he has a smile on his face because he's just that freaking evil!! Right? (hide spoiler)]

Finally we get some answers!!! OMG!(view spoiler)[ OMG! I'm still trying to process everything right now! I had all these theories going through my head and the one that turns out to be true was one of them, but it was just so out there that I dismissed it completely. And not only 'out there', but cruel and evil too!

No word on how they pick or choose the humans to take to camp haven, or any explaination on when they scan peoples foreheads they are either red or green and way to tell what they colors mean.

The whole reason for nursing them back to health, training them, giving them weapons and teaching them to fight, they weren't going to kill aliens they're going to kill each other! Other humans! That's why they let 5 and 7 year olds in a combat unit! Because they're sick and twisted and it's the 5th wave! (hide spoiler)]

That leaves (view spoiler)[ Evan as the Silencer! Cassie had figured it out I think, but then she talked herself out of it! She doesn't want to believe it and I don't blame her! :( (hide spoiler)]

I am a bit confused by Evan's and Cassie's (view spoiler)[ relationship. I am only a couple pages in to part 5, so maybe I'll understand later. WHY is she so angry with him? I understood when she got so ticked off when he read her diary, but why so upset before that? He was so sweet to her. I thought I missed something. Is she that prideful that she wants to take care of herself?

I am also wondering how she's going to find Sammy, and if Evan will end up going with her. There was a while that I was wondering if he isn't what he presents himself to be. Is he possibly an Other? (hide spoiler)]

She's not sure she can trust him, but she wants to. He didn't kill her when he had the chance and he nursed her back to health. He was sweet to her! (hide spoiler)]

Finished part 6 ... This is just not for me. I'm confused and bored because it is so slow. I don't think I'll end up rating it more than 3 stars by the end. I like part 1 & 2, though.

I'm sorry you aren't liking it very much. It's a really big book! And lots of stuff going on, sometimes that gets distracting at least it does for me.

Yes, it's pretty big and since fantasy is not my favorite genre, this one took me, like, FOREVER to finish lol

Not a fan of (view spoiler)[ insta-love and Evan in general. The dude was weird since the beginning. I don't think any of you guys don't like him, but his act was so suspicious. Too helpful, I guess :P (hide spoiler)]

Besides, the POV switching annoyed me. It would have been great, at least to me, if the character's name had been mentioned at the beginning of the chapter whenever there was any switching.

I agree that would have been helpful, but I was able to accept it and move forward, knowing it was partly suspense created for the reader. I mean we had to predict whose POV it was until we were told.

I'm still only halfway done because of how my week went and today I've focused on Dark Triumph, but I love 5th Wave!
