If I have time, I'll join. I tried to read this one before, but didn't like it so I never finished it. Hopefully it will be better.

The 5th Wave is awesome, you all should enjoy it, you never get the feeling of a first read again :)I so recommend it!

Thanks Inger! I love that first read feeling! :D
Same here! I read about half of it before, but I couldn't get through it so I put it down. Hopefully I'll be able to get through it this second time.
I may join in on this depending on my mood when October rolls around haha. I haven't read this yet but I definitely want to!
Welcome, Refan! So glad you're joining us!Shelby, I hope you can make it because larger groups can be really fun and stimulating!

Thank You! <3
Is anyone starting this today? I am going to read some of it tonight, but won't have too much time to read a lot.
I'm sure we'll love it too, but I hate it when I love something and someone else doesn't or vice-versa. But we can't all feel the same way about every book.

But I was really wow-ed by this book. I have since seen plenty of people who didn't enjoy it as much as me tho. I just value your opinions a lot!

I also value your opinions a great deal. Thanks, Becky. :o)
Okay, I have only read "INTRUSION: 1995" and I am already in love!!! This short into to the book reminded me of (view spoiler) LOL
I'm starting now too! It's 11:30 here so I prob won't get to far! But I'm off work tomorrow so I should get lots of reading done! Yay! :D
I am finding myself being slowed down by the allusions that have been introduced: (view spoiler) Allusions typically offer deeper meaning to the story than what's on the surface, so I can't help myself. Also Yancey's diction offers a dichotomy that I want to pay attention to and I think theme potentials have been introduced as well. (view spoiler)Because of this I already think that there is going to be a major theme of good and evil.
It might be a coincidence, and only continued reading will tell, but first of all when the (view spoiler) It might end up meaning nothing, but I don't think so.
I can't imagine the fear and doubt a person would go through to know that anyone could be (view spoiler)
I just wanted to post some of my thoughts. I hope I don't sound instructional. LOL
Vicki! This is why I love reading books with you!! You're so insightful and make me think about things that I might have over looked otherwise! So give me more!!! lol! First thing! That first page-'INTRUSION: 1995' was creepy! Definitely had a (view spoiler)
I agree with all of your thoughts. Definitely has an evil air and the fact that Cassie has to live like she does is so sad. Just the thought of (view spoiler)
I like Yancey's writing so far. It seems fast paced and the pages are really turning. I'll read more tomorrow!
Uhm, I've already read this and all I can say that this book will make you doubt of whose side is good. :D And also, Evan Walker was very romantic, he swept me off my feet. :D

I'm on Ch 9 so I'll read your spoiler after ch 11.Something funny! I am supposed to start reading Dark Triumph today and I was showing a student something in my NOOK and when I went to read part of The 5th Wave I just opened up my book and started reading. I was wondering what the heck? I read a couple paragraphs and then I was like OHHHH, this isn't 5th Wave! Lol It might not sound too funny as a post, but it was pretty hilarious because I was so confused and didn't have a clue what was going on in my book that I thought I was reading. LOL

Good point! I was wondering the same thing, so maybe we're right. :o)
I'm not sure which is more depressing, this book or HUNGER (Gone series). OMG I can't get away from heartbreaking/depressing.
Dad: (view spoiler)
Oh, I also meant to add that I am finding more parallels with biblical prophecies. I am not saying that this book has any religious or prophetic meaning, but I can't help but to notice some possibilities: (view spoiler) I'm just saying. I don't want to turn anyone off by the things I "see," so please anyone tell me to stop or mark these types of things so those who don't want to read them can bypass them.

I definitely thought Hunger was more depressing, this at least has HOPE and there are some good points!!!

He breaks down eventually - he's not "too" good. He's just regular old good, lolol! I <3 him too!
Okay, I haven't gotten that far yet. Lol I also had to put aside HUNGER cuz I couldn't handle it. I needed a break. This one so far isn't the break I needed BUT I can't put it down. Lol I guess that's a good sign. Lol

Lol I guess tha..."If you can make it to the end of Hunger there's a small reprieve from the depression! It was worth it. It's small but it's there, lol!
18 chapters inVicki, I don't mind your comments at all because I see the same similarities as you do. So for me it's all good!
I have to say though this book is killing me right now! (view spoiler)
Vicki wrote: "Oh my gosh, I was cracking up so hard when reading chapter 13 when [spoilers removed] OMG I thought I'd die! Teen boys!! LOL"I know right! I was just shaking my head! lol! :D
I'm in the middle of chapter 6. I love that the heroine is super fierce. But you know me, I'm super slow when I read fantasy. What I don't like is the jumping back and forth between the present and flashbacks. It confuses me.
29 chapters inSo I'm in part 2 and it's a different POV, a guy this time and haven't learned his name yet and I have a very bad feeling! Something just isn't right with this picture. (view spoiler)
