Boy now that's the truth. But I was really wow-ed by this book. I have since seen plenty of people who didn't enjoy it as much as me tho. I just value your opinions a lot!

Okay, I have only read "INTRUSION: 1995" and I am already in love!!! This short into to the book reminded me of (view spoiler)[Rosemary's Baby (hide spoiler)] LOL

I am finding myself being slowed down by the allusions that have been introduced: (view spoiler)[David and Goliath, Cassiopeia, Poseidon, and crucifix, to mention a few. (hide spoiler)] Allusions typically offer deeper meaning to the story than what's on the surface, so I can't help myself.

Also Yancey's diction offers a dichotomy that I want to pay attention to and I think theme potentials have been introduced as well. (view spoiler)[The word diabolical means of the devil and when Cassie questions her craziness, she discusses good vs. evil. And early on the crucifix is mentioned in juxtaposition to light. God? Or good? (hide spoiler)]Because of this I already think that there is going to be a major theme of good and evil.

It might be a coincidence, and only continued reading will tell, but first of all when the (view spoiler)[ owl was mentioned in "Intrusion: 1995," my first thought was I wondered if it was symbolic of wisdom; later in the story Cassie was wondering what the "W" in "her" constellation stood for and one of the choices she considered is "wisdom." (hide spoiler)] It might end up meaning nothing, but I don't think so.

I can't imagine the fear and doubt a person would go through to know that anyone could be (view spoiler)[ Aunt Tilly or the Other. Simple rules are not to trust anyone and to isolate yourself. What a sad state to live in. (hide spoiler)]

First thing! That first page-'INTRUSION: 1995' was creepy! Definitely had a (view spoiler)[Rosemary's Baby feel to it! (hide spoiler)]

I agree with all of your thoughts. Definitely has an evil air and the fact that Cassie has to live like she does is so sad. Just the thought of (view spoiler)[ not knowing how to tell if someone is an other or not and then they would kill you on sight? That's just scary! (hide spoiler)]

I like Yancey's writing so far. It seems fast paced and the pages are really turning. I'll read more tomorrow!

Something funny! I am supposed to start reading Dark Triumph today and I was showing a student something in my NOOK and when I went to read part of The 5th Wave I just opened up my book and started reading. I was wondering what the heck? I read a couple paragraphs and then I was like OHHHH, this isn't 5th Wave! Lol It might not sound too funny as a post, but it was pretty hilarious because I was so confused and didn't have a clue what was going on in my book that I thought I was reading. LOL

I'm not sure which is more depressing, this book or HUNGER (Gone series). OMG I can't get away from heartbreaking/depressing.

Dad: (view spoiler)[I am in love with Cassie's dad. He is strong for his children, a rock, a soft place to fall. However, crazy as this may sound, he is too good. LOL He bathes his wife, never loses it, handles her so tenderly and with such love. I wonder if HE is an alien! LOL (hide spoiler)]

Oh, I also meant to add that I am finding more parallels with biblical prophecies. I am not saying that this book has any religious or prophetic meaning, but I can't help but to notice some possibilities: (view spoiler)[ In the "end times" there will be pestilences and famines and death will abound. Cassies' mother was taken by the Fourth Horseman, and the Fourth Horseman of the Bible is Death, and he is followed by Hades (the god of the underworld). (hide spoiler)] I'm just saying. I don't want to turn anyone off by the things I "see," so please anyone tell me to stop or mark these types of things so those who don't want to read them can bypass them.

Vicki, I don't mind your comments at all because I see the same similarities as you do. So for me it's all good!

I have to say though this book is killing me right now! (view spoiler)[ Cassie and her dad just put Sams on the bus and they wouldn't let her on! I think her dad suspects that these 'soliders' are really The Others and maybe the reason they are taking the children is because they are either a host for an alien or they are taking them because they can still make them hosts because they are taking all the very young children. I hope I said that right and not confusing. I had it straight in my head, but sometimes it doesn't always come out that way when I post! lol!! :D (hide spoiler)]

Oh my gosh, I was cracking up so hard when reading chapter 13 when (view spoiler)[ Crisco asked Cassie if she had 20 minutes to live what she would do, and she said nothing with him. He asked her what if he was the last person on Earth, etc. When she said if they were the last two people on Earth, she'd kill herself. Poor Crisco said, "You don't like me." OMG I busted up laughing aloud when she said, "Really, Crisco? What was your first clue?"(view spoiler)[ Did you find that as hilarious as I did? I'm in the middle of chapter 6. I love that the heroine is super fierce. But you know me, I'm super slow when I read fantasy.

What I don't like is the jumping back and forth between the present and flashbacks. It confuses me.

So I'm in part 2 and it's a different POV, a guy this time and haven't learned his name yet and I have a very bad feeling! Something just isn't right with this picture. (view spoiler)[ 'Dr. Pam' having this guy push the button on 'Chris' and executing him. Why have him do it? It just doesn't set well with me and it's kind of making me a little bit anxious.
