im trying to decide if I should read this series or the infernal devices. I already read the first book in this series and I want to know if its really good.

Vee Gretzinger yes, the series is amazing. plus they are making a movie on it, and dylan o'brien from teen wolf is playing thomas. Also, I got super connected to all the characters and some surprising stuff happens

It really just depends on how much you like it. If you rate it below 3 stars, then don't. If above 3 stars, then read the rest. Why not read both series, though?

The rest of the series is really good! You should keep reading! Best series ever <3

Ellen The rest of the series is kind of confusing...they get into the history a lot more. if you like the characters as they are as of the end of book 1, stop reading. Come up with your own ending. However, if you feel like any of the characters are underdeveloped, or you are simply to curious to stop, then by all means, keep reading! However, remember this: when you do decide, if you read on, what you learn cannot be unlearned.

Tina J I didn't really like The Maze Runner, but I think that's down to the characters being so pointlessly cryptic with Thomas.
The Scorch Trials is really good though.
Death Cure is so-so.

And as for the Kill Order.....just don't even go there. It's crap!!!
The only decent book is the second one.
So all in all, this entire series seriously sucks lemons!

whatever^^^ I thought they were great. Some people are so stuck on the stupid as cliche dystopian, that they can't accept a great book as such. It's sad, really. I've read literally, over twenty dystopian books...let me tell you, they all sucked. MR was the best one I read, along with UNWIND, Enclave, and Divergent. Any of those, I suggest as well.

Ethan Hess Read the rest of the series. It is really good!

Tina J @ Vee - Unwind & Divergent are probably my most favourite dystopian books!!! And Enclave is on my 'to-read' list.

But the Maze Runner SUCKED!!!
That's not fact, it is merely my opinion. It's ok that you thought it was great.....but I thought it was crap. And THAT should be ok as well. lol

Clém Don't. The first book is really great but after that.... I don't think it should be a trilogy. One book was fine. :(

Tina J I do think you should read them though....if only to form your own opinion!

Word of advice though: The Kill Order is only a prequel and has absolutely NOTHING to do with Thomas and Co. A seriously pointless book!
But by all means - give it a go.
After all, YOU are the only judge when it comes to reading books you like. ;-)

Don't waist your time. The second is ok but the last is horrible and the ending is the worst. I was so disappointed. It felt like someone who never read the others rote the book.

Cherie The second book was my favorite.. keep reading :p

message 14: by Vee (new) - rated it 5 stars

Vee Gretzinger ^ditto

Addee Yes, read on. I'm reading the 2nd now & it's heaps better than the 1st so far.

The Kill Order, is related to the rest of the Maze Runner series, even if it doesn't seem that way for most of the book. The little girl, is someone that is Immune in the series, now you could guess who that is. No spoilers.

message 17: by Anna (new) - rated it 5 stars

Anna obsoletely you should read the rest. those books, oooh those sneaky boogers.

it says that her name is deedee?
im confused... I shall recheck the books now.

Cherie Anna, did you read the epilogue?

Cherie Her name was originally deedee. Remember that WICKED gave them all new names? Hint Hint... (Read the epilogue more carefully) :p

Tina J pmsl

@ Noa - I am aware that it's related to the rest of the series....but let's be honest here, it was a pointless book and useless to the rest of the series!
You didn't find out any more information than you already knew, right?
I rest my case!!!

Michelle In my opinion, the Maze Runner is by far the best book in the entire series. The next two are highly action packed. If you are looking for action, you will enjoy them. I was hoping for more of a story and a little less action, so I really didn't enjoy them.

Addee You might as well. I personally didn't like The Scortch Trials but I am enjoying Death Cure..... So far anyway...

Sherry Torgent It's interesting how some people don't like this series. I thought it was one of the most creative I've read. You can check out my review of The Scorch Trials at http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

it is really a good book I know sometimes it can get boring but it's also so exciting

message 27: by R.S. (new) - rated it 4 stars

R.S. McCoy Maze Runner was decent if only because you were just dying to find out what was really going on. I was VERY disappointed with the rest of the series, but I won't elaborate as to why (so I don't ruin it for you, just in case). I wish I had just read Maze Runner, and left it at that.

Thanks for this comment. I only liked the Maze Runner, which I am just about done with because I wanted to see what the maze was. I'm really tired of Thomas being to blame for everything so I'm worried about reading the rest of the books.

message 29: by Anna (new) - rated it 5 stars

Anna I liked them all, just the maze runner was my favorite, and I was barely able to get through the kill order

Katie Forbes no, you shouldn't. I really only liked the first one. I couldn't even get past the first half of the second one. James Dashner has a way of emphasizing the gore and violence that makes it hard to get through at points. he also drags out the things you really want to know which just made me bored

Naomi um in my opinion I prefer the second book would a over the first one

Katie Forbes the second one wasn't bad, I just would have preferred if Dashner hadn't dragged things out, you know what I mean? in the maze runner there were all these secrets and things the reader didn't know and I felt like, for me to really get hooked in the second book, he should have explained some thigns about WICKED sooner

Nakia Graham I loved the second one more than I did the first. But... I couldn't finish the 3rd. I just couldn't...

Katie Forbes I agree, the third was definitely worse than the second

message 35: by [deleted user] (new)

Read it.

I agree with the gore, I didn't like the metal squishy decapitating thingy in the beginning of the scorch trials, and I definitely didn't like the storm part either, I get you on that, but I liked the rest of the trilogy.

Cherie The gore was the best part! :D haha

message 38: by Ashley (last edited Oct 28, 2013 07:58PM) (new) - rated it 2 stars

Ashley no.

message 39: by Anna (new) - rated it 5 stars

Anna it was just disturbing, if it hadn't gotten into that much detail, maybe, I didn't like how people I liked died

message 40: by AgCl (new) - rated it 3 stars

AgCl the maze runner was great, and then it was like watching something decompose as the series progresses...

Cherie It's supposed to evoke disturbing mental images of horror.. That's the point...

message 42: by Shayla (new) - added it

Shayla Nuttall IS this book good? I'm considering reading it, but I'm not sure if I should. I have seen quite a few people reading it though. Any input?

message 43: by AgCl (new) - rated it 3 stars

AgCl Cherie wrote:"It's supposed to evoke disturbing mental images of horror.. That's the point... "

no, i meant the quality of the story...and the only thing that evoked horror for me was the fact that it went from "woah" to "meh"

message 44: by Anna (new) - rated it 5 stars

Anna really? well that's kinda depressing. That actually scares me that I read something like 'that' (That as in how you explained it)
P.S yes the book is AMAZING, tons of people will argue that the last two are not good, but its you oppinion

Cherie Depends... What genres are you interested in? The maze runner trilogy is sort of a zombie-esque post apocalyptical thriller with a lot of action. Character development is there, but it's not fantastic. The plot is really great though.

message 46: by Shayla (new) - added it

Shayla Nuttall How is this book? Any good?

Cherie Not depressing, many many people love reading horror and it's damn fun to write. ;p

Cherie And agcl my comment was directed to Anna.
