You are welcome to start this one early. The first person to crack the book can ask the first question.

Beverly Diehl (writerbeverly) Viviane, Lady of the Lake - heroine or villainess?

I think she is more of a heroine. I think she was trying to do what she thought was best for Britain but unfortunately that is always what's worst for her family members.

Tracy This was an epic tale as only a 900 page book can be. I enjoyed the story but some of the story lines began to repeat as things do over generations. Towards the end I was tired of the same old betrayals and religious lore. I think the book was just a little too long. I didn't care for Queen Gwen and it was annoying how Arthur wouldn't keep his oath to Avalon and I hated how everyone made Christianity sound so mean and unforgiving. I guess Morgaine was my favorite character because she seemed more intelligent and real. I kept hoping Morgause would come to some tragic end because she seemed so evil but she just lived on worrying only for herself. I find that I am liking historical fiction more and more.

Thank you for conquering this group read, Tracy. You rock.

Beverly Diehl (writerbeverly) This book is one of my personal favorites; it made me look at the legends of Camelot in a whole different way, and opened my eyes to the idea of a female spirituality that is NOT simply God in drag, but a different way of life. It has so many layers that I reread it every few years and always get something new and interesting from it.

Rebecca | 1 comments I loved this book. I read it in college. I knew I was a book nerd when someone was shocked that I read this "for fun." The female perspective was a terrific re-telling.
