(view spoiler)[ You pretty much summed up my interpretation of it, that anyone could use a word of power so long as the have the strength and ability to 'own' it.

It is a bit confusing because she says the words out loud so you'd think others would just hear what she's saying and repeat it, but I guess the word just goes over peoples head if they aren't strong enough and the only way to really 'own' it is to read it?

And then there's the fact that it's an entire language, not just words of command (hide spoiler)]

I haven't been able to read as much lately so it feels good to be able to finally have time to binge a favorite!

And Kate is one of my favourite characters of all time! I also loved in Chap 25 when (view spoiler)[ Kate releases her power and asking for just 15 sec to do so - so bad ass! She's my role model <3 (although I'm not sure what that says about me lol) (hide spoiler)]

I actually like the idea of moving a bit away from tech, especially if magic is involved, but then I remember I’m overly reliant on the internet so not sure how well I’d survive!

This is a reread for me. It's been around 5 years since I read it.
- I didn't think about it the first time, the magic waves that are coming before the magic flare remind me of pre-shocks before a big earthquake.
-Crest is a wuss. I do think it's funny that Myong wants Kate to talk Curran for her and Maximilian.
- I fall in a little bit more in love with Derek with each book.

I forgot Julie was so young when Kate met her. Now she has crazy aunt Kate.

I remember being frustrated with how long it took Curran and Kate to finally get together. Rereading the series, I find I don't mind so much since I know it will happen. I can see how Curran is having fun toying with Kate and can laugh at some of the things he is doing without getting angry with him for not pushing harder.

I love seeing Kate's evolution into the powerful kick-ass heroine (more than what she is right now).

Julie: I understand that Julie can see magic like the m-scanner but why are these reeves chasing her? What do they want with her.

Curran: I really like him. When is Kate gonna admit that she likes him also? They really should get together.

Bran: He reminds me of those slimy guys that are always coming unto girls that have absolutely no interest in them. They don't take not interested as an answer either.

The honeycomb - Yeah, I would be afraid to live there.

Julie - poor kid! Red really hurt the poor girl. Losing her mother and then him treating her like that. So glad that Kate wants to take care of her.

Bran - He was a bit annoying at the beginning but he grows on you. I was sad when he died.

Curran - I love how he teases her. He is determined to keep her on her toes.

Shapeshifter customs - I loved when the werehyenas told Kate what some of Curran's actions really meant. She thought he was just messing around.

Kate - Why does she avoid Curran like that? What is she that she is so afraid he will find out about it?

Overall, I loved this book. I still have questions about Kate and I can't wait to find the answers in the rest of the books.

(view spoiler)[With what Red had planned for Julie, I was happy to see him leave. A little bit a pain now is so much better than if he would have stayed in her life.
I love Curran's teasing too. Kate does have her reasons to avoid Curran which will be explain in the upcoming books. Regardless of her reasons, it did drive me crazy that she is fights the attraction. (hide spoiler)]

I know, he is so lovely and loyal. I know all the shifters are loyal to the pack but he extends that.

I agree there. I finished this the 9th of June and I just keep forgetting about him because he doesn't stand out in any way. Don't know what Myong wants with him.
