okay, I read Endurance....kind of sad I did in a way - it wasn't necessarily information I wanted to have

but if it pops up in book 2, than maybe it was worth it...

I am listening to the audiobook so I can't even say what page I'm on. I stopped at 'Big Water'.

So far I am not enjoying this book as much as the first book. It is not as exciting but I suppose that is to be expected since (view spoiler)[ they aren't really fighting many freaks yet. I suspect that something big and bad will happen soon to change that (hide spoiler)]

Okay, I'm 200 pages in and am going to stick with it and finish it....

I stopped at Summer (which is just after Endless and Furlough but before Taken)

I agree Mandiann. This one is much slower and

(view spoiler)[ it's weird how it's focusing so much on their jealousy right now. I was hoping for some major zombie crazy fighting

and instead it's been 3 or 4 days in the woods...with nothing but creepy guys touching her, making sly comments and waging jealousy wars with Fade.

and I'm not sure how I feel about (view spoiler)[ the new idea of the zombies. Is the point to humanize them? Because the ones cooking fire and making buildings might be more like women and children? I'm not sure how I feel about this change....that the zombies are weak? or they have weakness ? and feel emotions (the ones that paused when she killed one of them like they were sorry to lose their "friend"). (hide spoiler)] I just didn't see it coming so it's kind of thrown me.

I didn't really like this one

I hate that Fade gave up on them so much
I hated that she turned to Stalker EVERY time he did
I hated Tegan when she pushed her away
I hated that Deuce killed Miles near the end and she didn't even bat an eyelash. I KNOW he was bad, trust me, I know he wasn't a good guy. But she killed someone. I don't know, I thought it would affect her. Instead, she merely shrugged. (hide spoiler)]

but (view spoiler)[ I did like how it ended. Them leaving this boring town. It wasn't that interesting to read. To me, after the first 100 pages, it was slow
the last 100 pages were painful. Fade spent so much time either gone or disliking/shoving her away....It felt more drama filled this time and MUCH less zombie butt-kicking action (hide spoiler)]

I know their bites and cuts give infection really bad, but don't turn people.

but I'm still hung up on the fact that he used to rape women - even young girls. I know, I know...the times called for it. But that is always in the back of my mind. Didn't he rape Tegan specifically? No, wait, he just left her to the others, right? But he had every intention of raping Deuce. I know he didn't and I know he knows it was wrong now...but if he was capable of it once. I don't know, it makes me wary of him,I guess... (hide spoiler)]

About Stalker (view spoiler)[ I don't remember it saying that he raped women, just that he allowed others to. No, he didn't rape Tegan, but he did allow everyone else to. Good point though. Even if he didn't commit the act he still condoned it. Which is still despicable. (hide spoiler)] Book one is kind of a bit fuzzy. I think I have been reading too many dystopias / post apocalyptic books recently.

I didn't like this one, didn't like the characters in this one

but I'm on board for reading book 3 because I like how this one ended and it gives me hope the next one will be more like the first book
