Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments For those of us who are bored, procrastinating (like me) or just think it's fun (also like me): map your reading! Post your map(s) here if you like :)

Go to a map-making website (I recommend BigHugeLabs because you can save and update it), and mark the countries that were the setting of books you read. Gives you a nice overview of where in the world you've 'been' :) I might have forgotten a few! It also made me realize that around 80-90% of the books I read are set either in the US or the UK...

If I zoom in on Europe it starts to look impressive :) (should pay more attention to Eastern Europe though!)

I also have a US map I keep track of for a challenge, for books I've read since August.

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments Here is my World map for my 2013 reads. I have actually been to more places than I thought! :) However, most of my books are set in either the UK or USA.

And now for a closer look at Europe

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments It's great to have read books set in Russia and the US/Canada: that covers a huge part of the northern hemisphere :D

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments Lol! I know, it makes it seem a lot more impressive! :D

Africa and South America are looking a little left out. I might have to see if I can fix that.

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments Good map Janice! Looks like you have been to a lot of countries this year! :)

Janice (jamasc) | 59887 comments Thanks, Lisa. I've been doing the Around the World challenge the last two years, so that has me doing a lot of armchair travelling.

I think you have to go back to the maps-website, log in, add the country or state, copy the link and then edit your message here on goodreads with the new link.

message 17: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments You all read so much in so many different countries in just 2013!

message 18: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59887 comments There are some very colourful maps in our group. :)

message 19: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments I wish the map was of places I'd actually been in 2013. That would make me very happy. But I'll settle for a visit via books until I win the lottery!

There are indeed. What a well travelled bunch we are! ;) I think we could do with some pink maps in there somewhere though, they would sit very nicely alongside the blue ones :D

I went back to add Venezuela and can find no edit option. If I click on Worldmap, it is blank. I am missing the correct edit option somehow. Otherwise I will have to do it from scratch each time.☻

I couldn't find any way to save the map so that I could keep it updated.

Theresa~OctoberLace (octoberlace) | 1090 comments Here's mine, based on the books I've read in 2013:

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments @Almeta and Janice: did you create an account on the website? When I log back in, my World map and Europe maps are still there, but I just realized my US map disappeared.

Hm, it would be kind of useless if you have to start all over again every time.

message 28: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments I'm on another computer now and wanted to add China, but all my maps have disappeared :(

Yep! I started over a second time for both of my maps, but still can not update them.

message 30: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Hm, it's a bit too much to check all the boxes whenever you read a new country. I'll see if I can find another website that works better :)

message 31: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments I found another website which I think does work, www.whereivebeen.com. I think you need a facebook account to use it though, and I can't figure out how to post my map here. It gives me a link, but it doesn't do anything when I post it.
