I love Esther M. Freisner! Put this on my want to read list!

Huh. I'd swear that I hadn't read Aftermath, but the name Levar Burton sounds really familiar, and it seems to be his only book, so perhaps? Looks like the library has a copy, so I'll take a look when I have the chance.

I've read other books by Walter Jon Williams, but not The Rift.

That doesn't sound familiar, and I'm sure the one I'm remembering contains natural disasters - it's possible it might be in conjunction with nuclear, but I remember tornadoes and earthquakes specifically.

Hm. Sounds interesting, but after reading a few spoiler filled reviews, I'm sure I haven't read it.

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone!

LeVar Burton was the guy from Reading Rainbow if you ever watched that show as a child or were alive in the 1980s. (I think it ran until 2006 at least.)

He was also on Star Trek: The Next Generation as Jordy. So maybe you recognize the name from that?

Hi, I'm a nerd.

Also, I have read Aftermath and it actually wasn't that bad! Not the best thing ever, but a passable and interesting novel. :)

Melanti | 330 comments Ah! I was a big Next Gen fan and watched Reading Rainbow a handful of times, so it could have been either. I'm not any good at remembering actor names.

He was also Kunta Kente in the original miniseries of Roots.

It really is good, as is the second one. I think there is supposed to be a third, but not sure?

JoLynn | 67 comments Possibly something from The World Made by Hand series by James Howard Kunstler? The Witch of Hebron, etc. I remember a religious theme, but don’t recall what exactly caused the post-apocalyptic state.
