SOLVED. YA Fantasy: parallel universes with three heroes [s]

Read this years ago maybe up to 10. Part of a series.
Three youth are taken out of their worlds in order to save? Another world. One is a girl that is running away from home and dressed as a boy. She is a warrior. Another is a boy that comes from Earth and has actual magic though he doesn't know it when he is performing magic tricks on the street. The last is a really smart guy.
All three are sent off together and they have to learn to trust each other as they complete their mission. They also have to learn to use their gifts bc it turns out that they are more powerful than they know. Not sure how it ends and I think there are more books.

No, though it is similar. Here there are three main characters and as far as I remember they didn't take any relatives with them. They were just sent to help this other world without knowing why and whom did it.

If the characters come from three different times, the books are the Diamdem series by John Peel. Helaine is a medieval warrior, Matthew Caruso, a/k/a Score is from Manhattan; his father is a gangster and Pixel comes from a very technilogically advanced society in the future.
