(view spoiler)[ I don't know maybe I'm not far enough but I don't think that Celaena is annoying yet. I hope she doesn't get annoying for me though because so far I'm really enjoying her character. I'm so used to "strong" female leads who can't do anything for themselves (Hunger Games, Divergent, Mortal Instruments) and so her independence and her arrogant attitude is kind of refreshing for me? Of course, I definitely wasn't just talking about physical strength. I think she has a lot of mental and emotional strength too, but that is just how I view her character!

I started the first book, Throne of Glass. I am only 6% through it so far, but I am enjoying it. Here are my thoughts.

(view spoiler)[So far Celaena seems very sure of herself. And it doesn't come across in a good way. It strikes me as more in a vain way. I hope that I get to see another side to her as the story progresses. I really like Chaol so far. There isn't much shown about him thus far, but he seems nice and respectful. I am excited to learn more about him. I haven't really formed an opinion about the prince yet. The world building so far is very good. I can really get a sense for the mines. (hide spoiler)]

I like it pretty much. It has a good story line and it's well written. Only sometimes I feel like it goes a boring path. After the competition where Celeane saved Nox, things started getting a bit boring. It seemed like there weren't any new suprises or something..

My favorite character till now is Princess Nehemia. I love how fierce she is, and how she and Celeana can easily talk in Elywe without anyone else hearing.

I'm getting a bit tired of Dorian and Chaol. They are both so obviously in love with her in their own way that I feel a love triangle coming up... (which I usaully don't really enjoy reading). I fear that there will come a moment where Celeana does something with one of them and that then the other does something very very stupid, because he's jealous. And I really hope it won't go like that because then I always have a feeling like the characters are behaving as childish children... :/

I do like the different perspectives however, and I hope there will be more of Nox in the book. (hide spoiler)]

I'm double sided on the mysterious quest thing from Elena.. On the one side I think it's cool and it will add more mystery to the story, as the comptetion had begun to become a bit boring. On the other side I'm a bit tired of the you were chosen, this is your fate cliche.

And I finally want to know everything about her past... How she became an assasin and what happened to her parents. Her constant hints show that it will be evident somewhere later in the book, but I kind of want to know more about it now. :/ :)

Somehow I had seen coming that Celeana would go to the Yulemas ball. I have this terrible feeling that everything will go wrong, and that she will be caught with everyone looking. Also I like that Nehemia can actually speak and read really well, as if she pretended to learn it just so she could spend with Celeana.. But I'm not sure that's the case.

I hadn't expected that Celeana would actually be drugged. I thought something else would go wrong like Dorian accidentally drinking it or Celeana finding out it contained Bloodbane.

Somehow I got caught in believing that Nehemia would be the evil thing, but I'm soo happy that she's not. I like that they are friends again.

As to the ball, I think that was foolish both on Dorian and Celeana. I just have a feeling that something will go terribly wrong, like Celeana secretly kissing with Chaol, Dorian seeing that and then Dorian being horrible to the country.

I'm rather curious as to what the king did and I hope that he soon will get disposed of since I don't like him at all...

The reason I'm writing all this now is because I have a feeling that we've already reached the happy ending. And I kinda sort of want the book to stop here.... But since there are still about 20 pages left, I don't really see that happening.

I shouldn't have worried. Although the final fight was exciting and nerve racking. Nothing major happened after that. The book did leave a promise for a good series. Somethings aren't entirely found out yet and Celeana will have to serve the king for 4 years. I'm curious as to how it's going to go in the beginning.

I really enjoyed the first book.

(view spoiler)[Celaena definitely seems more well rounded after finishing the book. She did seem quite vain at the beginning of the book, but we get so see some of her vulnerabilities as the story goes on. It makes her seem like more of a person.

I really love Chaol. I hope that he and Celaena get together in the second book. They are so right together. I was glad that she ended it with the prince. They do have things in common and there is the attraction, but I think that they would be better as friends. Plus, I like a little love triangle in books. A lot of people don't, but I don't mind them. I think that it keeps things interesting when a character is exploring their feelings.

I really keep wondering about the king and what he disappeared for. He is clearly not a good person. I just have a itch that won't go away concerning what his angle is.

I can't wait to find out more about Celaena's past. It is clearly not something she likes to think about. It is going to be very significant in the end.

I am glad that Celaena and Nehemia came clean to each other in the end. I hope that they remain close friends. They are so wonderful and right together. And very perfect for each other friend-wise.

I am very curious about Elena and what that background is all about. I thought that it was quite interesting when she came and helped her during her fight. The circumstances were intriguing, and I can't wait to find out more about them as the story goes on. (hide spoiler)]

I think it's really going to put a strain on the relationship of Chaol and Celeana and I'm curious as to how long it will take for Celeana to forgive him.

Oehhh, every next book in the series is getting better. I sincerely hope the last book will live up to my now high expectations.

This book was real good. I like that the book followed multiple storylines now. There was a good balance between these storylines. I like the storyline with Aelin and Rowen the best, they were so dynamic and I am so happy that Aelin has found/accepted herself. This slow change in her makes me like her a lot better. I also thought the storyline with Scorcha and Dorian good. I loved how Dorian was able to really fall in love with her in a healthy way. They fit togheter so much better than Celeana and Scorcha.

And that's why I was like, ughhh the ending. I mean Dorian imprisoned (and under the control of the king), Chaol fleeing, Aedion as a bait for Aelin and Scorcha dead (ughhh, why did she have to die (why does Sarah J. Maas always chooses my favourite characters to die)...

I was suprised that Aelin confronting queen Meave was in this book. I had expected it to be at the start of the last book. Although the way Aelin, sort of won, was super cool. I'm also curious as to how Manon will fit in the next book. I really like how she became like a little softhearted...

In conclusion, I really liked the book. It was by far better than the first book and a little bit better than the second book. I hope the second book will bring all the storylines together, and I hope for my own sanity that not all of my favourite characters will die..

(view spoiler)[I agree that this book was much better! Which is saying a lot since the first book was great! I also agree with you about the backstories. I like knowing more about what happened in Celaena's past. She is so mysterious.

I love that Chaol and Celeaena finally came together. The week that they were together was amazing!

OMG, Nehemia died!! OMG, NO!!! I have so much sadness over this. Poor Celaena. Her only gal pal is murdered.

I wasn't sure about Archer at first. I actually never suspected that he was the one that put the hit out on Nehemia. The way that he was down below the castle was creepy. He clearly knew who Celaena really was and was plotting to rule the world with her. Ugh.

I liked how Dorian and Celaena came together more in this book after their "break up". Their relationship now is perfect! They seem to be becoming quite good friends. Especially after Dorian discovers the he has magic. And that was something that I wasn't expecting. Although, now that we know that Celaena is really a Galathynius, that makes her and Dorian related, right? Eww. I keep thinking about them kissing. I know that it is only distantly over a thousand years or so, but still.

The way that Celaena changed into her fae form once she entered the portal was also unexpected. I am glad that Chaol was there to see it, but I wish that he would have been less bothered by it. I am glad that she left him the hint about her identity before she left. (hide spoiler)]

Oh God, I've read the amount of pages we were supposed to and GOD, this books is being really goooooood.

I love Celaena's personality, she looks very strong and confident!

Is anyone else struggling with this book as much as I am? I finally got to page 280 and things JUST started picking up for me. I usually read 100 pages in an hour, and a book this hyped and this 'amazing' to everyone I would normally be able to read it in a sitting or two, but easily in one day. I keep putting it down over and over, and looking at other books like "i can't wait to be done with this one so I can find ANYTHING better"... :( I really want to love this book. Maybe now that it's picking up it'll be amazing?
