I put mine on reserve back when the announcement came out that JKR wrote it, so I'm only #15 in the queue, but they only have 2 copies of the book. (and my other library hasn't even caught up and bought a copy yet!).
So I will most likely end up buying it :)

I'm in, I have this book on my TBR list for some time, I will read it a little earlier most probably, but I will gladly join the discussion here :)
I'm in too, assuming I can get the book from the library. I have holds on every format and should be able to get it in time.
I'm looking forward to reading it as well, just purchased it, went to start reading it when I saw it was selected as the October BOM, so I will try my best to keep it safe from me reading it until then ;)

ShoSho - I have put you down for the 8th and 9th Oct. If anything changes and you need to alter this just let me know. Thanks again! ~Karen
I should be able to get my hand on it at then library at the proper time as it s available now. I will join. I heard good things about it.
Fortunately my local library system is rather large and not many people around here are big readers. I'm picking up my copy at the library tomorrow after being on the wait list for only a few weeks!
My library has 76 copies, with only 30 on the wait list, but either way I own it. Just curious with all the comments, so I looked :)
I've been on the wait list at my library since the end of July and I'm still # 229. We have 109 copies now. Still hoping to get it for October.
I'm hopeful I will get it in time from the library, otherwise I will buy it as I don't mind paying for JKR :)
Ooh, I'd love to join in with this! I haven't read any JKR since the HP novels, it'll be really interesting to read it along with you! :)
I'd love to join in too. I've missed not having the latest HP to read. Looking forward to seeing how Rowling handles a different genre :0)
July has just never been the same since the end of the HP series has it Lauren? Sigh, I miss them too!

How exciting! JKR is writing some films based in the same "community" as Harry Potter, but 70 years prior and in New York.

Cool. I have that short short book. Is cute. Specially Harry's and Ron's notes on the side. But seeing more of that world... I'm there. I'm so there!

This thread is open to discuss The Cuckoo's Calling by Robert Galbraith (pseudonym for J.K. Rowling). Be prepared for spoilers.
Synopsis:
brilliant debut mystery in a classic vein: Detective Cormoran Strike investigates a supermodel's suicide.
After losing his leg to a land mine in Afghanistan, Cormoran Strike is barely scraping by as a private investigator. Strike is down to one client, and creditors are calling. He has also just broken up with his longtime girlfriend and is living in his office.
Then John Bristow walks through his door with an amazing story: His sister, the legendary supermodel Lula Landry, known to her friends as the Cuckoo, famously fell to her death a few months earlier. The police ruled it a suicide, but John refuses to believe that. The case plunges Strike into the world of multimillionaire beauties, rock-star boyfriends, and desperate designers, and it introduces him to every variety of pleasure, enticement, seduction, and delusion known to man.
You may think you know detectives, but you've never met one quite like Strike. You may think you know about the wealthy and famous, but you've never seen them under an investigation like this.
Introducing Cormoran Strike, this is the acclaimed first crime novel by J.K. Rowling, writing under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith.
