Marianne (mariannemorea) Hi guys! I'm curious, since you all are growing up in the internet age, how do you prefer to get your reading fix? How many of you read on your phones? How many of you read on a tablet or device? How many still like to hold a paperback book?

And what about getting books signed by the author? Does it matter anymore?

Katarina | 290 comments I like paperback books and I have a few signed books, but if I get one signed I'll get another one so I don't ruin the signed one.

Marianne (mariannemorea) That's nice to hear. I have my kindle and I love it, but I dropped it once and it broke. I was in the middle of Beautiful Creatures and I had to wait for the new one to be delivered. I ended up going to the book store to buy the book so I could finish it... I guess that's one good thing about paper...you can drop it and it can get wet, but you can still read it.

message 4: by Kayla (new)

Kayla (kayla22) I prefer reading on a regular book. I will read on my Kindle if I really want to read a book and can't get my hands on it. I have never had the opportunity to have a signed book, but I would totally get one if I could.

Trinity (tsundokuproblem) Regular books are a lot better! Definitely not an opinion~ it's a fact. Electronics can crash, get viruses, bad lighting, low battery, so many problems! Nothing beats the smell of new pages- not even a little electronic~

Kayla, if you want a signed copy of my new Teen/Ya Horror, Hollow's End, I will send you one! Read it...if you like it, then spread the word!

Jasmine Erving | 14 comments Traditional books because you can treasure the books instead of deleting them of your tablet.

I don't have a smart phone, so no reading on there for me. Though I use my phone at night as a light to read by!!
I don't have an ereader, but the more I hear about them the more I want to get one. I don't think it could replace paper versions for me, but it does have its advantages. Number one being, it can have multiple books on it and still be very compact. This would be ideal for travel!

I'm always going to choose paper. The smell, the feel of the pages beneath your fingertips...nothing can ever take the place of those feelings. Real physical books will always trump electronics.
However, as far as portability, availability, and cost go, eReaders are lovely. I have a Kindle myself and it's extremely useful especially when you don't want to lug a bag of tomes everywhere you go.

Joliejacobus (anonymous_someone) Paper

Anita (anitaxzs) | 2 comments Paper! the sensation when you turn the page; even if it makes us vulnerable to paper cuts :S the smell of it and the weight of it.everything is better tangible than non.

message 12: by Casey (new)

Casey | 9 comments I always enjoy paper more, it feels more real and draws more emotion in you. If I get an e-book it's normally because it was free, as it's nice to just have a book to read on your iPhone when you're on the go.

message 13: by Lynne (new)

Lynne Stringer | 117 comments I usually read a book on Kindle on my phone first, and if I really enjoy it, I buy the paperback for my bookshelf.

message 14: by C. (new)

C. | 5 comments I only read paper books now if I can't get the Kindle version. I L-O-V-E my new lighted Kindle Paperwhite for reading at night, when I do most of my reading.

message 15: by Funky Fish (new)

Funky Fish (goodreadscompetitcroissant) I much prefer actual books. Reading off a screen makes my eyes hurt and I love the feeling of a fresh new paperback. Plus, no buffering! :)

lorien ‧͙⁺˚*・༓ଳ I'd much rather read an actual book because I love the feel of a book in my hand rather than a mobile. Yes, there are some books you can buy only on the mobile but it's so much fun to have an actual book. Then you also have to ask yourself the question, why are Ebooks so readily available on a mobile? I could just be paranoid but I think we should ask that question.

message 17: by areeba (new)

areeba (bookish_fantasies) | 40 comments I rather read books printed than on electronics. Honestly, I can't stand ebooks, it's just lacks the comfort of having an actual books in your hands. Plus, I love the look, feel and smell of a book. :D

message 18: by [deleted user] (new)

I totaly agree with u Areeba. Ebooks r ok but id rather have a real book in my hands. I love the feel of it and having 2 pages rather than 1. And if u have an ebook u cant get it signed. And if u have an ebook, u cant hold that big thick book. U hold an electronic. I like real books better.

message 19: by Habiba (new)

Habiba Books because without a book you've just ruined the reading thing seriously, Reading is all about papers, smell of books and bookmarks.
Plus I'm addicted to collecting books and how they look on a shelf!

message 20: by [deleted user] (new)

Habiba, u just took the words right out of my mouth.

message 25: by Nouk (new)

Nouk (booknouk) I prefer reading regular books. They look beautiful on my shelf ♡ I don't like reading on my mobile phone and I don't have an e-reader.

message 26: by Stephy (new)

Stephy Beno Well I prefer to have my favorite books in paper format especially if it's one of my favs, just in case I want to get it signed. But I also feel like reading on a tablet or a phone is very distracting for some reason.

message 27: by Sophia (new)

Sophia | 24 comments I would pick electronics because electronics have better quality
