I'm up for any read as long as they aren't monotonous (I particularly don't have a nack for modern day biographies :P) Also, I have a budget of 20 euros.
Except for that, I'm up for it. We'll see how many people actually join though. Wouldn't just be like less than 4 people. LoL
Yes. We'll have to see if there's interest. If not, there's always buddy reads which is more informal.
Yes. We'll have to see if there's interest. If not, there's always buddy reads which is more informal. What I envision a buddy read is that at least two people agree to a work and timeline and then discuss it on the boards with an open invitation for anyone to jump in whenever they feel like it.
We'll see. There are always options.
 Hi Bethany,
Hi Bethany, Great! Right now, we may have to start out with buddy reads until we get more group participation.
Do you have any author or novel in mind?
I will be posting a buddy read request soon to get things started. Depending on the response, maybe we can graduate to a group read. I'll be posting in a week or two when I can dedicate more time.

 Hello,
Hello,I haven't done any group or buddy reading on this site yet, but I'd be up for it as well. I guess it will be Japanese literature..?
 Hi Ath,
Hi Ath,It looks like Japanese literature will be the popular genre though not limited to it.
There is a buddy read section so if you wish to post a book you are interested in reading with someone, feel free to post. Is there anything on your to-read list you have in mind?
Also, if there's a book you've read that you would like to discuss say, A Tale for the Time Being for example, feel free to post a new topic in the books section. (hint, hint, nudge, nudge)
Jean.
I love the idea of a group read.
I love the idea of a group read.I would say anything originating in Japan, about Japan, or taking place in Japan (to keep with the theme) would be fun reads. That way we'd have a lot of variety.

If we get enough interest in varied topics, we can run different group reads simultaneous to help include everyone (e.g. Japanese Literature Group Read, History Group Read).
I was thinking if we do it, maybe each read would get about 2 months so that it give people a chance to get the book and read it.
What are your thoughts?
Thanks.
