This was one of those after school special-type TV movies.
Perhaps, but it was also a book. The couple meet in a doughnut shop at one point.
Is there a scene where he takes a taxi while blindfolded and realizes he has no way to differentiate his money? (Then later learns of a folding technique?)

Easy because I'd read the book and it's a keeper. :)What I liked most was it said in effect (not these words) blindfolding is not exactly what it's like as that's only short term. People who become blind learn to adapt and use alternate techniques, etc.
It refreshed my memory, as I'd forgotton all about it until you brought it up. thx!r
