Turtlecollector Dennis Rules for September Challenge

Here is a link to Rules for September Challenge from Mods

My Simplified Version of the Rules

1. A team total of books, which is determined by percentages of the participating members' individual goals, becomes the number of books the team must read for the month, regardless of how many each participating member reads. Only books read by participating members will count toward the team total.

3. These books must be able to fit into three specified NBRC challenges in the following proportions:

A. The Book a Day Keep Boredom Away(chosen by mods) - 1/3 of the total books
B. Any A to Z challenge(chosen by team) - at least one of the remaining books
C. Any other NBRC challenge(chosen by team) - at least one of the remaining books

4. (Version 1)There are three levels at which BAPs may be earned:

A. 7% earns 5 BAPs
B. 8.33% earns 7 BAPs
C. 9.9% earns 9 BAPs

5. (Version 2)If a team does not feel it can read enough books to fit into the challenges, or does not want to worry about fitting them into challenges, they can choose to just read a total percentage of books for fewer BAPs:

A. 7% earns 1 BAP
B. 8.33% earns 2 BAPs
C. 9.9% earns 4 BAPs

Deadlines to be Considered
**Challenges chosen by the team may not be changed after September 20
**Switching versions of the challenge must be done by September 20
**Members may choose to drop out of the challenge until September 20
**Members may choose to join the challenge until September 30

Do I need to read a book a day or do I need to fit my books in a category for the month?

message 15: by Turtlecollector Dennis (last edited Sep 01, 2013 04:10PM) (new)

Turtlecollector Dennis No, you don't need to read a book a day. You just need to be able to fit books into a category listed during the month. Unless you want to try:)

This is just a breakdown of the days for those who don't want to go to the actual challenge thread to see them and so the team can see which categories may have already been covered. As a team, we can only have two books for each category. For example, we can have up to 6 books for Day 1 (2 in each category).

I have 4 books that could qualify as one word titles, but we would only be able to use 2 of them. Assuming no one else has a one word title they want to use there.

But it would be useful if you say why book fits into the category (that's why we split it up).

And don't forget, spell-out category (3rd one) can also use character names :D

Sanskriti Nagar | 20 comments I'm sorry if this has already been answered somewhere... But I needed clarity.... The A-Z challenge and Animal spell it out, are we using titles, authors and/or characters?

message 20: by Turtlecollector Dennis (last edited Sep 02, 2013 10:53AM) (new)

Turtlecollector Dennis The A to Z challenge hadn't been officially decided, but it was down to titles or authors. We have to use all titles or all authors to fit into that challenge. The Animal Alphabet spell out can use title, author and/or characters.

I think we were going to wait a week or so to decide on title or authors depending on what we are reading. If we have more different letters using title, we can go with that or the same with authors. We don't have to make a final decision until September 20th.

❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 384 comments Does those 3 books from 3 different series count as 1 or 3?

Turtlecollector Dennis They should count as 3 books under the 1 day. I only categorized them now since I had specifically made sure they would count for that day. GR lists Just One Kiss as not in a trilogy, but it is released as trilogies and it is the first of a trilogy of characters, so LK said it could count there. I know we are waiting a little bit so we can move things around easier.

So far 79 books read. Lowest needed number is 72, so we are getting something.
Next step is at 86 and final one is 102.
We have enough books for A Book a Day (minimum was 34 and we fitted in 51 so far) Other books are sorten in A-Z (14) and spell-out (14).

Ezi Chinny (ezinwanyi) can you post the link to the A-Z and spell out? I might shift some of my books over there since we don't need anymore in the Book a Day.
Thanks

Turtlecollector Dennis I finished another one so we are at 80. I hope to finish one more to tonight for 81. We will definitely make the second goal. I have 8 more books planned for the next 6 days.

Ezi we are not really doing those challenges. We are only 'using' them.
If you want to see how we standa (aka what's missing), chack out our Spetember spreadsheet or start of this thread where TC is keeping track.

If you really want to join those challenge, they are year long (as is A Book a Day).

❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 384 comments We managed to finish second step (86 books) and earn 8 BAPs.
At the moment (3pm CET) we have 88 books read.
Next (and last) step is at 102 books.

Can we get to it in 3 days? :P

Turtlecollector Dennis Well I have at least 6 books planned for the next three days. What time does it end again on Monday? If I don't get distracted by puzzles and only do the Sunday update I might be able to sneak in another book.

Did we get any cupcakes for the Book Thief, I posted in the thread and answered the questions too?

I don't know. There is no Book Thief on cupcake spreadsheet. Maybe LK didn't update it yet.

I'll check when it's finished. I remember reading that we need to post it sometime on 1st the latest.

There are not that many puzzles left. Those covers needs solving and few Spot the Difference. If nobody wants to play with sliders/jigsaws I can do those.

Edit:
I've checked all threads and there is no time specified for ending, so I'll guess midnight your time :P
