We have a buddy read of Allegiant in November. I planned it then so that people would have time to get the book, but I don't think people are going to want to wait! lol I have to read it later because I still haven't had time to read Insurgent! I had better get to that soon.

Welcome to the buddy read Marnie. I have a similar situation - I've been reading a lot of thrillers (just finished The Passage, reading The Cuckoo's Calling & Doctor Sleep now, The Twelve is up next with a whole list of action type books), so I'm looking forward to something a bit different too.

I felt the same way ! I usually read books that are pretty serious and many times sad . It's not that I don't love these books but The Rosie Project was a nice change for me . I hope you enjoy it as much as I did .

I was reading this on a plane today and found myself laughing out loud.
It cracks me up when people say outrageous things especially when they aren't trying to be hurtful.
(view spoiler)
I'm at chapter 5 (page 35, 12% in) and loving it so far. Already had quite a few laugh out loud moments including ....
Sarah wrote: Chapter one - OK just started and I think it is funny the main character is going to give a lecture on Aspergers because I can't help but wonder if he has this.
..... when his wife's friend (who he suppose he could class as a friend too) asked him if he enjoyed giving the lecture and did it remind him of anyone :)
I did a big massive awwwwww when he was describing his relationship with his neighbour and the flowers, follwed quickly by a shocked OH! when he stopped visiting her!

Ill definitely be encouraging my book friends to read this one and I'm only at 8%

Hey Maxine, I think I can speak for us all that it will definitely be interesting to hear your thoughts on the book. Do you think the author is doing a good job so far?

I haven't started it yet either and I can't wait. I'm a little behind with other reads. I just need to finish Doctor Sleep, then I'm starting this one.

Synopsis:
An international sensation, this hilarious, feel-good novel is narrated by an oddly charming and socially challenged genetics professor on an unusual quest: to find out if he is capable of true love.
Don Tillman, professor of genetics, has never been on a second date. He is a man who can count all his friends on the fingers of one hand, whose lifelong difficulty with social rituals has convinced him that he is simply not wired for romance. So when an acquaintance informs him that he would make a “wonderful” husband, his first reaction is shock. Yet he must concede to the statistical probability that there is someone for everyone, and he embarks upon The Wife Project. In the orderly, evidence-based manner with which he approaches all things, Don sets out to find the perfect partner. She will be punctual and logical—most definitely not a barmaid, a smoker, a drinker, or a late-arriver.
Yet Rosie Jarman is all these things. She is also beguiling, fiery, intelligent—and on a quest of her own. She is looking for her biological father, a search that a certain DNA expert might be able to help her with. Don's Wife Project takes a back burner to the Father Project and an unlikely relationship blooms, forcing the scientifically minded geneticist to confront the spontaneous whirlwind that is Rosie—and the realization that love is not always what looks good on paper.
The Rosie Project is a moving and hilarious novel for anyone who has ever tenaciously gone after life or love in the face of overwhelming challenges.
