So, I didn't finish Doctor Sleep yet and I started The Rosie Project anyway. lol It will just take me longer to finish both. At least
The Rosie Project is a little more portable!

I'm only to chapter 3 (page 18) and I thought the beginning was strange, but interesting.

Is there a timeline for this book?

Marnie (marnie19) | 116 comments I am at chapter 15 or 38%.
I am still enjoying it though I am not laughing out loud any longer. I find Don to be so endearing and I guess I'm not shocked by his behavior anymore. I think my reaction to this book is an example why it is important to be exposed to different cultures, special needs etc. I have been around kids on the autism spectrum but never someone with Auspergers ( although if I'm not mistaken people are no longer classified as having Auspergers).

I can't wait to see how Rosie's Father project goes....I wonder who it is? I am enjoying the teamwork of Rosie and Don.

Hi April - No time line. Just read at your own pace when you get a chance. :)

Sarah | 1467 comments There are discussion questions at the back of my book? Should we post some? I like a book and this and that isn't much of a discussion.

So true Marnie

Maxine (Booklover Catlady) (booklovercatlady) Thanks everyone interested in my thoughts on this book as a woman with Aspergers, so far I can see the author is portraying a very stereotypical male Aspergers character, he is pedantic, particular, rigid and logical, I will be keen to see how it unfolds and will keep you posted, I am off to read some more now of the book. Aspergers characters in books has become a bit of a new trend, but getting it right is another story (pun intended)

Misha (itz_mie) | 365 comments done with it!!! loved it :-) :-) :-)

✿ ♥ Heather ♥ ✿ (frangiegal) | 181 comments Sarah - sounds like a good idea to try some of those questions

I personally wish I could discuss or ask questions or comment along the way but I'm on my phone and can't remove spoilers so I always have to play safe.

Anyway..... This book was just the right book at just the right time. An easy 5 stars from the very beginning. So funny and easy to read whilst also being cleverly written. I could totally understand how Don saw the world.
I'm definitely recommending this one to my book lover friends

Sarah | 1467 comments Questions for discussion -
1. Don said the happiest day of his life was spent at the American Museum of Natural History. Do you have a happiest day of your life? Or is there a special place where you are happiest?

2. Do you agree with Don's assessment: "Humans often fail to see what is close to them and obvious to others".

3. What do you think of Gene and Claudia's relationship? Do you know anyone in an open marriage? Do you think it can work.

4. Do you know anyone on the Autism spectrum?

5. Don watches several movies to learn about romance. What are your top five romantic movies?

1. Not really happy days but random rare happy moments like alone at home listening to Judas Priest and dancing while making something to eat and for a second I think couldn't get any better than this. Also happy place would be the balcony at home at night with no one around and no sounds.

2. Yes I agree.

3. Nope and i doubt it.

4. No.

5. You've got Mail , Lakehouse, French Kiss, Kate and Leopold, i can't think of a 5th one right now :o

Sarah | 1467 comments 5. Romantic movies top 5 - The Notebook, The Great Gatsby (2013), Jango Unchained, Ghost, Dirty Dancing, Grease II

Diane | 69 comments Top 5 romantic movies, in no particular order:

1. Notting Hill
2. Sleepless in Seattle
3. An Officer and a Gentleman
4. Up!
5. Romeo and Juliet (Baz Luhrmann's version)

Diane | 69 comments I'm sorry- but I would have to have 6!
6. P.S. I Love You. - and If I would have to have a top one, it would be this one.

I haven't finished reading this book, but I just wanted to say that I look what you wrote Hassam. I don't have "happiest days" but a lot of happy moments.

Diane | 69 comments I've finally started reading this book! Has everyone else finished?

No matter Diane, you can still contribute. It's always good to hear what other people think :)

Renee | 72 comments Diane, I just started this book too. Although I'm only 30% into this book I am completely enjoying Don's story. I am a speech/language pathologist who has worked with many children and young adults on the autism spectrum, many of whom have been intelligent, funny, charming, sensitive and capable and interested in having various types of relationships. I like that this book is a story about DON who just happens to have Asberger's.

Diane | 69 comments I'm interested in this book also because I have a son with Autism (Asperger's). He's 16.

Renee | 72 comments I'll be curious to hear what you think of it.

Diane | 69 comments I've just finished the end of chapter 7 and am smiling and giggling. Such a fun read!

Renee | 72 comments I just finished. I really enjoyed it. I was so drawn in by Don that I kept having to remind myself this book was fiction.

Misha (itz_mie) | 365 comments glad u enjoyed it Renee... I absolutely loved the book, it was very beautifully written.... Ipso facto, I voted for this book in GCA too :-) :-)

Renee | 72 comments I voted for it too.

Misha (itz_mie) | 365 comments same pinch :-P

This book got my vote too :)

Diane | 69 comments My end comment is that what started out a fun read for me, quickly became a read of a stereotypical portrayal of those with Autism being unable to show affection or empathy. I felt like I was reading an episode of 'Big Bang Theory' and the protagonist was very much modelled on Sheldon. I was expecting something different because of all the hype this novel received. I guess Autism is a very emotive subject for me though, so perhaps I would have liked it more if I didn't have a son with it.
