Hi Ange! I just landed in Goodreads by chance (can you tell I'm procrastinating?)
I wondered if you have any good books you have read lately that you might be interested in reviewing? I definitely have to get back into it. And read more.
I thought I'd let you know what books I have out from the library at the moment, that I'm itching to actually get to READ. 'When God Was A Rabbit' by Sarah Winman was a suggestion from A, and when you give it a cursory glance it looks like it's going to be very good.
I also have two memoirs on paranormal subjects - one on near death experiences by Raymond Moody - 'Paranormal, my life in pursuit of the afterlife' - Dr Raymond Moody is the man who 'singlehandedly changed the face of medicine' when he wrote is book 'Life after Death' in 1975, and the back of the book says that it's about his own extraordinary experiences in his own life... it's going to be a good book I think.
The other paranormal book is called 'Adventures of a Ghost Hunter - my investigations into the darkness' by Adam Nori. It looks to be about exactly what it sounds like ;) These things fascinate me. Always have.
I have an autobiography by a man who has Aspergers, and was born with multiple disabilities, not expected to survive. He was brought up in institutions, forced to migrate to Australia, and later was an alcholic. Despite all the odds, he not only survived, but overcame and now he works at helping young people in trouble. I think this will be extremely inspiring. It's called "So I Hit Hiim - surviving life as an institutionalised Alien" by Mick Whatham.
Lastly, this autobiography rings bells for me - the name Kate Holden sounds extremely familiar - and the title "In my skin - A memoir of addiction". It's apparently about the author's life as a prostitute to feed her addictions - and the journey to overcome addiction and free herself from prostitution.
There seems to be a theme here - extreme experiences! Although the first book, the only fiction - just sounds like a very pleasant fiction novel.
Okie dokie, now I hope you will get a notification of this so it's not like I'm pissing into the wind here... ;)
