i'm sorry no susan...the point of this challenge is to push your boundaries - and a vast majority of our members don't read m/m and may be uncomfortable recommending it. which is why we give you the option of providing a shelf for them to recommend from for 4 of your picks, but 4 with be at the pickees choice

Susan - If you don't like the books that are recommended, you can put them on an "abandoned" or "DNF" shelf.

I will tell you that I typically don't like a lot of chick-lit or romantic suspense. I read both this month because of the August PIFM. I liked both of them.

There are many areas of Romance that make some people uncomfortable. I read m/m and some pretty steamy Erotica. I know in the past it may have made some of my pickers look at my shelves and go hmmmm...and they didn't pick those kind of choices for me. And that's ok. As long as 4 picks are from my tbr then it's all good. I admit I probably won't read any historical or romantic suspense chosen for me, but you never know. I really don't think anyone makes anyone else uncomfortable here in this group. It's a Romance group, we're all about love and happiness here. It's just in choosing new titles for someone, there may be a hesitancy to recommend a genre that is completely unknown to them. But that doesn't mean anyone can't or shouldn't participate.

I hope you still stay in and give it a try. If you get me or a handful of others signed up you may just get all m/m choices. But you will at least get 4.

If I may...

I think what was meant is, since this is a PIFM, your picker picks book for you based on what you enjoy and what they want to recommend. So, your 4 books from your TBR will be M/M because that's what's on your shelves (which is perfectly okay!). The other 4 are the picker's choice. They may or may not take your reading tastes into consideration (hopefully, they will, at least a little bit).

I know when I'm recommending I may have a pickee who doesn't have any M/M on their shelves. I can't help but recommend a book or two to see if they'll enjoy a genre I feel so passionately about. Your picker will feel the same way and want to recommend one of their favorite books/genres that they can't help but shout from the rooftops about. You can choose whether or not to read those choices. The picker is taking a chance by recommending them since they know your reading tastes based on your shelves.

There's nothing against the genre, just against specifying any genre. Whether it's PNR, rom-suspense, contemp...

Lisa, you don't have to specify a shelf at all if you don't want to. Some of us just do that because we have TBR piles and we want to try to tackle some of them sooner than others. Hope that helps!

I've heard that people are more like their rising sign than their actual sign. My rising sign is Aquarius which is air. So that quiz is pretty accurate for me. But I love being a Fire sign. (probably partly because I am a fire sign LOL
