message 1560: by Savvy (new)

Savvy (savvysuzdolcefarniente) | 1458 comments CUMULUS

Cumulus clouds are a type of cloud with noticeable vertical development and clearly defined edges. Cumulus means "heap" or "pile" in Latin. They are often described as "puffy" or "cotton-like" in appearance. Cumulus clouds may appear alone, in lines, or in clusters. Cumulus clouds are often precursors of other types of clouds, such as cumulonimbus, when influenced by weather factors such as instability, moisture, and temperature gradient. Cumulonimbus clouds may be associated with phenomena such as landspouts, waterspouts and tornadoes.

macerate (verb)

I make my own ice cream here at the lake and I got this from the directions. You macerate the strawberries for two hours when making strawberry ice cream. In layman's terms, you cut them in a bowl and add lemon juice and a 1/2 cup of sugar. Then it creates juices or macerates.

to cause to become soft or separated into constituent elements by or as if by steeping in fluid.

message 1569: by Ruth (new)

Ruth | 16546 comments Mod
Which leads us to osmosis, which is what causes the maceration--diffusion of molecules through a semipermeable membrane from a place of higher concentration to a place of lower

Actually, no. I love it. With two scientists as parents, I knew osmosis long before I ever macerated a strawberry.

My dictionary doesn't even recognize the State of Swasivious (and if it did, it would come right before the unfortunate "swastika").

Still, I wish all of you gals lots of swazz in the future. Eat lots of oysters... raw so that they play about the back of your mouth just like the words jouissance and swasivious.
