Is this movie better than the first?

I know there was a lot of hate with the first one because it was nothing like the book but is the Sea of Monsters movie more like the book than the Lightning Thief was?

Kind of. They miss alot of stuff but it is a good movie.

Everyone seems to have their own personal opinion. Alot of people either love it or they hate it. I personally think that this one was quite a bit better than the first. The director was obviously trying to stick closer to the book and patch up the failures and questions from the first one. However, there were a few things that created NEW failures and questions, not a lot though. Yes there were things changed, but I feel like the changes in this one made more sense than the changes in the first one. These were seemingly more needed where as the first one seemed to be just flat out throwing the book out the window, if that makes sense. I liked it, you might like it, I say just watch it and see for yourself because you really can't go by others too well in this situation.

I just saw this movie today and I think it's way better than the first. I understand that we as readers tend to want the movie to be the same exact way as the book, but sadly it doesn't happen too often. In my opinion, just the first few minutes of Sea of Monsters blows The Lightning Thief out of the water. I did notice a couple of things missing from the movie, but it doesn't take away from the fact that this director did attempt to stay true to the book (unlike the first movie).
