Carol/Bonadie (bonadie) | 9483 comments I usually don't read reviews on GR -- where would I start? -- but while scrolling around to re-enjoy the plot of The Likeness by Tana French I found a reviewer whose reviews I really like. So, how do I "follow" her? There doesn't seem to be a way to have her listed anywhere, and in about 2 days I will have forgotten her name. I know there must be a way. Suggestions?

Melodie (melodieco) | 3679 comments Click on her picture and it will take you to a page with a button for "follow reviews" or "friend request". Just click the follow reviews and it will take care of it!

Okay, thanks! Now if I could only remember her name... ;-)

Ann (annrumsey) | 16927 comments LOL, Carol! So click on the book and scroll down to the reviews.... I follow some reviewers and enjoy getting their perspectives on books. (though I think I friended each of them) ;).

LOL, Ann. That's what I did, so I found her again. So, what does following get me? An email whenever she writes a review? Internal email or external?

Ann (annrumsey) | 16927 comments Carol: I think it can be set in preferences to be an external email, that is how I get my review notices.

A restraining order?

speaking of restraining orders....

Russ | 347 comments I like it when my Goodreads friends or users that I follow write a review because it shows up in my updates/timeline & the digest emails that I receive.

I tend to add users as friends who have similar book tastes and are capable of writing an intelligible review. That way I have a higher level of trust about what they say when their comments pop up on my account.

Ann (annrumsey) | 16927 comments Russ: That is similar to what I do to. I can sometimes grab some gems I would have missed from those review digests. I find it interesting that Goodreads repeats some and seems to give more credence to the longer reviews since those appear at the top of the emails, but I scroll through to see what some of my "top friends" in Goodreads parlance are reading.
Longer is not necessarily better in a review, those seem to veer into spoiler territory so I tend to not read the entirety of those, especially if I am planning on reading the book. .
