I think that Voldemort's death in the movie should have been like in the book. You know- he dies just as the sun bursts over the horizon, it's all very dramatic, and there's no stupid redo of the wand connection thing. And part of the movie's 'final battle' looks like Voldemort is eating Harry's face. I know it's supposed to be very dramatic and powerful, but the book was just way better.

A petty thing, I know, but why was Hedwig killed off :'( It's not like she was an integral part of the war. Dobby was rescuing several people from Malfoy manner, the twins, Sirius, Colin Creevy etc. were all in fights but poor old Hedwig was just locked in a cage on her way to the Burrow. Always thought it was a little unfair that she got killed.

One small ray of light? :( I keep (a lot) of birds myself I just hated that Hedwig was bumped off :(

"Yeah, I know she probably had a reason, but couldn't he just keep one thing? One small ray of light?"I think the thing that he gets to keep (aside from friends, etc.) is his wand. It was destroyed and should have been unrecoverable, but he was able to restore it with the elder wand. A small thing, with big consequences, yet a link to his past.
I would give Harry a time-turner to go back and get Voldemort when he was least expecting it. Solve the whole problem. Of course, that would cause some problems with the space-time continuum. ;) Oh well, I can hope.
I would make the ending of the film more like the ending of the book. I think it is really clever how Harry uses the Elder Wand to repare his old wand, which he loves so much. The film misses this out, and instead has him breaking the Elder Wand and throwing it over the bridge. I think they should add it in, as after all, if Harry doesn't have the Elder Wand, and his phoenix wand is broken, how will he get another wand?
I agree with a lot of you about how I wish the ending of the movie was more like the ending of the book, but that's not what I would change. For me personally I would prefer if Fred didn't die. It was much to heartbreaking for me. They were my favorite characters in the book, and I can't stand the thought of George running their shop without him.
I agree with all the suggested changes to the movies. But I think the books are just right. A lot of it is sad and made me cry (especially Fred and Hedwig) but that's reality. JKR changed enough of reality to make it fun story, but if she abandoned reality altogether (i.e. included no significant losses) than it would have been rather disingenuous. This is a story about war and survival. War kills people, and changes the survivors forever; that's just the way it is.
The thing I would change wouldn't really change the plot or the end result at all: A little more careful editing with the details, especially dates. A lot of people (myself included) have fun figuring things out that are not explicitly stated, so when there's conflicting information in the details it's just plain annoying.
I would of let a lot more characters live (especially Remus Lupin and Tonks my favorite characters):(

I can only think that I would have loved Snape's demise to be more like portrayed in the movie. I thought it was brilliant (probably due mostly to Alan Rickman) and the book moved me much less than the movie did in only that one point.
