I read this book in the 90s. Believe it was written between 80s - 90s.

What I remember: A thin girl was being teased by a larger girl in her school. I think the bigger girl called her "Skinny Bones" or something similar. The title was also something like "Skinny Bones [character name] Jones" or "Skin and Bones" or "Sticks and Stones."

The cover, I think, was a realistic color illustration of the thin girl on the ground(?) in the cafeteria(?) with the larger girl standing over her. There may have been other students in the background.

I think there was a pink border around the cover, making me think this was either an Apple Paperback or Little Apple Paperback

Both main characters were African American.
