Also, that fact that he was willing to have his own daughter become a Strigoi to help him escape was unbelievable! I'm glad that Dimitri showed up and saved Rose from Natalie! That scene at the end was sweet, but kind of sad too. Definitely want to read the next book now! (hide spoiler)]

I can't quite understand why everyone in her life is treating her like some whore because she has friends who are guys, or there are guys who are interested in her. I don't really see the issue in flirting either. Who is she hurting? She isn't acting like a whore, she's acting like a flirt. It's wrong to be with Mason while she's so interested in Dimitri, yes, but it doesn't make her cheap to flirt with Mason or be around any boy whatsoever. (hide spoiler)]

Starting chapter 3. Wow this book has started better than the last

This is book 2. I just finished. Sorry it took so long. I'll start book 3 as soon as I get my hands on it.

Chapter 4: (view spoiler)[ Wow we finally get to meet Rose’s mom. Attitude wise, she exactly what I expected but looks wise, not what I pictured at all. I guess I pictured Selene from Underworld? Even if she’s not, she’s probably just as vicious. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 6: (view spoiler)[ I loved this chapter. We get to see more Rose and her mother’s relationship. Their relationship is different and a spar like this was refreshing. It reminds me more of brother to brother or father to son relationship where the boys would have a relationship where they “talk with their fists”. It’s interesting to see it in a Mother-daughter relationship. Dimitri was right, they are very similar and we see that in this fight. Even as calm and collected as her mother had been, Rose’s mother’s temper flared like Rose and it ended up sending Rose to the infirmary. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 10: (view spoiler)[ That’s about the third time Rose has mentioned that it’s about time to give Mason a chance and she still hasn’t. I hope she doesn’t go through it with or it’s going to be a hot mess. Rose is usually good at admitting what she wants and who she wants. I hope she realizes soon that Mason is really just a friend to her. I feel no chemistry or attraction between them that could bloom into that kind of relationship. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 11: (view spoiler)[ Ugh. Where do I begin with this chapter? So she decided to go through with Mason and I’m certain that she’s eventually going to break his heart. Poor Mason. I’m getting fed up by Rose’s temper flare ups. I liked it in the first book. It made her seem fierce and strong. She usually used it to defend Lissa or for training and catching up to other guardians-to-be at the Academy. In this book, she flares up at people who don’t deserve her wrath. It’s an outlet for her to deal with issues that she does not want to face. It makes her very angsty and I thought Lissa was dramatic in the first book. At least the cause of her craziness was due to her powers. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 15: (view spoiler)[ See? It went exactly as I thought it would between Mason and Rose. I feel bad for Mason. Rose led him on the whole time and he was crazy about her. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 17: (view spoiler)[ Wow…I thought Rose was going to be bratty the whole book but I was very proud of her in this chapter! She has been a pain in the first half of the book but she showed so much growth and understanding in this chapter. (hide spoiler)]

Finished! (view spoiler)[ Well wow…Despite the boring beginning, I actually enjoyed it. I liked that this book focused more on Rose than dividing character development between Lissa and Rose. I’m excited for book 3. I can’t wait to see what happens between Rose and Dimitri! (hide spoiler)]
