Review: Downgraded this one from 5 to 4 stars. No idea why I rated it so high. I did love it still, this time around, but it wasn't as good. I remembered this book so well, so I suppose it didn't hold as much intrigue with me this time around as it did the first time. The (view spoiler)[assignents, the Victor case, the Mason thing, the attack (hide spoiler)] I thought it was all something that had happened before in an earlier book, but it hadn't. I also forgot that (view spoiler)[Dimitri and Rose had gotten together in this book, and that he had turned Strigoi. (hide spoiler)] I cannot believe that (view spoiler)[Rose has ditched Lissa and all of her guardian Strigoi-killing training to go and kill Dimitri. It just seems so stupid and irrational of her. And then when she regrets it in the next book I'll be angry. (hide spoiler)] I almost can't see what the next books will be about anymore, with (view spoiler)[Dimitri being Strigoi and her no longer guarding Lissa. I mean, obviously she'll get back with Lissa somehow, but I also kind of think Dimitri's love for Rose will bring him back or something pathetic like that. (hide spoiler)]

At least we have the word Kiss as well as Blood, so both count.

Like all of this Nightingale Moroi dhampir stuff! And the fact that now this human girl called Sydney knows all of this stuff. I know she plays a massive part, as she's the focus of Richelle's other series.

And why is Rose killing Strigoi all around town? Why haven't we been told that?

(view spoiler)[ This book is slowly drawing me in. I love that it is giving me time to differentiate between the terms (moroi, strigoi, etc.) and the characters. Things are easy to picture for me which makes it a lot more enjoyable. Of course I wonder what happened that made Rose and Lissa leave in the first place but I feel as though we’ll learn more about them as time moves on. I feel like Christian may take on a bigger role as time moves on as well. Seems as though it would be wise of the girls to stay and train. (hide spoiler)]

I understand Lissa kind of infiltrating the rest of the Royals and doing her damage control but nobody seems to be happy with this. She seems to be kind of sinking to a bit of a shallow status - she definitely shouldn’t lose herself. I have to admit I’m getting the feels from Christian! Hello dark and mysterious - give me more of him😂 Rose fine tuning her ability to pop into Alissa’s Head is pretty crazy and proving to be useful. Ms. Kari turning Strigoi - was it because it was becoming too much for her as by turning strigoi it increase her strength and/or ability to handle what she could do? 🤔. (hide spoiler)]

All because of this bond that Rose and Lissa have she is still safe at the end of book 1. (view spoiler)[ From reading the summary I did know that Rose's mother would be there and I really wonder where that will go as I get further into the book. Starting as it did with the Strigoi attack totally caught me off guard, but of course reeled me right back into the story wanting more. For a guardian that was supposed to be the best of the best I'd say that definitely opens some eyes to what the Strigoi are capable of - they were definitely making a statement. Rose - I love her attitude and sarcasm and how quick she is on her feet with rebuttals. The "I take no shit" attitude is definitely my favorite and I'm happy to have her back in my life ;) I see Lissa maybe playing a smaller role this time around, she sees very caught up with Christian. I still have some feels for Mason too though. What a sweetheart (hide spoiler)]

Tasha sure has lit some fires as well - Mason is taking it all to heart and wants to fight. Rose toying with him and his newfound need/urge to jump on the bandwagon to fight off the Strigoi seems to me to be a recipe for disaster. (hide spoiler)]

Now that the Strigoi have them and are giving Mia and Christian an ultimatum to "live" something crazy has to happen to get them all out of this situation! (hide spoiler)]
