Anima Miejska | 1698 comments Hi, Onyx. Welcome to the challenge :)

How do you like Brigde of Scarlet Leaves? The synopsis sounds really interesting.

message 3: by Andy (new)

Andy Capricorn | 0 comments Honestly, so far Bridge of Scarlet Leaves is a little disappointing. I've been waiting for a chance to read it since I first heard of it just before it came out and it just doesn't seem up to snuff. Then again I am only about 15% through it. It's not that it's bad, it's just that it almost seems YA. Not what I was expecting. I'll post again when I'm done and see where I stand then.

Anima Miejska | 1698 comments Thanks for your thoughts, I will wait then and think of adding it to my TBR list :)

message 5: by Kamee (new)

Kamee Shrope (kameeshrope) | 2 comments Thanks for your input. I have been wanting to read that. Think I still will though. Some of my favorite books start off slow. :)

Cathie (catitude) | 1511 comments Nice start on your challenge Onyx :-)

message 7: by Andy (new)

Andy Capricorn | 0 comments I am so lagging. I got to school and then got really sick so I haven't been doing much reading (including for classes). Only just finished We, the Drowned, which is amazing!

message 8: by Anima (new)

Anima Miejska | 1698 comments Onyx, hope you will get better soon. Keep my fingers crossed for your progress :)

message 9: by Cathie (new)

Cathie (catitude) | 1511 comments I've added We, the Drowned by Carsten Jensen to my TBR list, Onyx. Looks excellent :-)

Andy Capricorn | 0 comments Thank you everyone for the well wishes I am FINALLY over it (I think)! Of course now I have to catch up with school...

It is Cathie, it's a bit... different. The Writing style is a little wacky but I, personally, love it!

P.S. I think I am currently reading too many books, I don't even have
The Mad King by Edgar Rice Burroughs
or
The Shawshank Redemption by Stephen King
listed yet...

message 11: by Cathie (new)

Cathie (catitude) | 1511 comments Shawshank Redemption is a wonderful read Onyx.

message 12: by Andy (new)

Andy Capricorn | 0 comments I finished Ready Player One by Ernest Cline . I loved this book. It appealed to my love of the 80's trivia and my love of the idea of a virtual world.

I hope to have either Half World or Shawshank Redemption finished this weekend.

Mollydee | 23 comments I am going to do my own a-z challenge. So far I have b,d,f,m,p,t,v. This is a great idea. Instead of how many I can read in 2014. It makes it more fun I think. Any suggestions? Please let me know. I do want to mix it up. Thanks!!

message 14: by Andy (new)

Andy Capricorn | 0 comments So... wont be finishing Half World this weekend as it is being returned to the library... My current goal is to finish Death of a Salesman byArthur Miller and work on Shawshank. I find I'm more likely to finish books that are on my Kindle then I am to finish a hard copy of it...

message 15: by Andy (new)

Andy Capricorn | 0 comments So I just read the Gothic tale of The Monk by Matthew Gregory Lewis. Unfortunately I can not put it under M or L as they already have books so this will just have to remain a freebie.

When I started this challenge I definitely didn't take college into account or thought that It wouldn't affect my summer reading speed.

message 16: by Andy (new)

Andy Capricorn | 0 comments So I just finished The Monk, Zofloya and A Study in Scarlett. Two of these (The Monk and Zofloya) were read for school. Honestly, they are not what I find to be the greatest of Gothic Literature, much preferring the likes of Dracula. However, out of the two I did like The Monk way better. I Ended up putting A Study in Scarlet under H for Holmes. I have just started The Fault in Our Stars by John Green, I might have to list this one under Green as I will be starting Frankenstein next week...

message 17: by Andy (new)

Andy Capricorn | 0 comments Guys, just finished Frankenstein. Loved this book, can't believe I hadn't read it before. ***** from me! Already have an F so it's not going to be listed but just had to share.

message 19: by Andy (new)

Andy Capricorn | 0 comments So I read 12 books in the month of February and only two of them made the cut to the list (Gilded and The Fault in our Stars)....

message 20: by Daniela (new)

Daniela - Was this supposed to be on your own thread?

message 22: by Andy (new)

Andy Capricorn | 0 comments So... I have two weeks left of this challenge, unfortunatly it got away from me. I figure I can get I, K, and O before the end but... On another note, The Unbound is amazing! Sequel to The Archived I'll have a full review up in a few days.
