Guys do you have any tips on how to get so many ARCs? I somehow never get the ones I really want, so I was wondering if you all maybe have some tips? :)

message 4336: by Aly (new)

Aly (alyp_01) | 11128 comments Are you on NetGalley? That's where I get most of mine. They have a bunch that you can read now and it will get your ratio up

message 4337: by Katrina G (last edited May 03, 2021 03:44PM) (new)

Katrina G | 4552 comments I literally just signed up for NetGalley in the middle of April. I'm just kinda winging it so far lol. But I did a lot of the Read Now books to start with. And then I requested too many at once and my ratio tanked, so I did a bunch of the children picture books on Read Now to bump it back up super quick since they only take like 2 minutes to read and review

message 4338: by Aly (new)

Aly (alyp_01) | 11128 comments That's a good idea Katrina!

Danique, you want your review ratio to be in the 80% range so you'll get more books

message 4339: by Brinley (new)

Brinley | 3402 comments I also get almost all of mine off Netgalley! Other than that, ive gotten quite a few from blog tours, giveaways, and BookishFirst. BookishFirst is great for physical arcs, but im pretty sure its only for the US

Honestly, you have much better luck requesting the lesser known stuff, with less cover likes and reviews....also, I htink there is a correlation to when you request it; so as early as possible. If the book is near archiving date, and still for request, then you'd probably get it. And review ratio is probably the main thing, but I've been getting approved for nearly everything I request for the past two-three weeks, even though my ratio is not going over 50%

message 4341: by Brinley (new)

Brinley | 3402 comments Your ratio being 50% is making me feel so much better about mine Trisha 😂

Trisha (semi-hiatus) (booksreviewsandprocrastination) | 3571 comments Brinley wrote: "Your ratio being 50% is making me feel so much better about mine Trisha 😂"

It's actually 42% or it was at some point yesterday

i just checked, it went down to 41% XD

message 4343: by Dannii (new)

Dannii Elle (danniiellereads) | 9852 comments I've been on Netgalley for a few years now and it took me a few months of requesting lesser-known, self-pub, and read now titles before I was accepted for more well-known titles.

Picture books is definitely a good idea!

I review on here and Instagram and have both linked. I also read somewhere to put your follower/friend count in your bio so publishers can directly see what they are working with.

Thanks you all so much!! I’m indeed on Netgalley, but my ratio isn’t really great at the moment, so the children picture book idea is really smart Katrina! Thank you all, I’ll definitely use your tips :)
